lol i work for allied carpets, umm, a local independent is allways a best bet, u more likely to get a better price, i worked for a local independent for 4 years, u will often find if u cash and carry from them they will do u a deal, but allied its all codes bla bla. but gripper rods best bet even i tell customers if there cash and carrying is a diy store

thanks for your replies

i agree with flame thrower - buy your gripper from b&q - about £20 for a 500ft box - do NOT buy from carpet right it would cost you £250 a box (50p ft)
cloud 9 (cumulus) is an excellent underlay the local independant that i work for charge £4.50 per mtr - as for buying carpets same story local indies - better to barter with.

firsty u got to consider the width of the carpet, i presume its for a bedroom ? depends what u want if u want cheap and cheertfull go for a felt backed carpet so u dont have to buy underlay and gripper unless its down, fitting depending on where u go i reckon about £20-35 min charge then the carpet and a bit of glue, so £100-£125 roughly
