I would like to cast from a Pixel 5 phone to my Samsung smart TV (approx 6-7 years old now).

I've seen an app on the Android store 'TV Cast' which looks like it's possible to use, but the reviews are pretty bad so I don't want to spend on an item that stops working in future with another phone.

I saw other apps but there was some degrading quality for HD videos.....

I'm not sure if anyone has any other recommendations to achieve this?

Whether your TV supports it I don't know...you may need a dongle to add.You could also try the Localcast app as it supports a number of standards. It streams video content rather than mirror the display.

I have the Screen Cast option on my phone. If I enable it it finds my TV but never acknowledges anything.

If I use YouTube on my phone, click the share button within the app then it's fine. If I want to stream photos or videos not on YouTube and want to mirror the phone to my TV then it doesn't seem to work.

Many years ago I had s Samsung phone which worked but I assume that's because it was a Samsung device to Samsung TV.

    Will check out localcast. Cheers

I use a first gen Chromecast. Isn't the best but works when I need it. Should be cheap to pick one up.

I think the TV supports Miracast which is included with a lot of phones. But Google being Google want Chromecast, so unless the TV has it built in....

Me too! I thought it was my phone just bugging out. I have a pixel 4a using a Chromecast and I can cast to it no problems but cannot cast/mirror my screen onto it. Just fails!

I have same issue, Samsung TV (bought last year) and pixel 5. There is option for screen cast on TV itself, but it doesn't pick up my pixel 5.
    I gave up for now

Yes I have a Samsung TV we I think 2014.
Trying to cast various things on it.
I have the same problem, hoping to be able to cast the Discovery plus.
