CD-Wow to pay record damages !

Online retailer CD-Wow must pay £41m to British record companies after breaking a deal to stop selling illegally imported cheap albums in the UK. The High Court in London ruled in March that the site's owners, Music Trading Online, were "in substantial breach" of a 2004 agreement to stop importing CDs.
It has now ordered Hong Kong-based CD-Wow to pay £37m plus interest to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
CD-Wow says it will continue to sell cheap CDs and may appeal the ruling.

They make about £3 - 4 on each item they sell (excluding vouchers etc that our community uses). They prob do have the money. This company is as big as play.com so we will see!

But even so, This company will still need to pay for staff, Shipping, Storage etc.

i shopped with them once.... never again.
they kept emailing me telling me item out of stock for 3-4 weeks
and a further 3 weeks for my refund

    puding e pie!!!

Hmm didn't this happen before though and they just put the prices up?

Theres a couple of threads on it now.

Understand what you mean though, I've never bought anything off of them and won't be in the near future either.

Bump as this is the original thread to save any more duplicates.

    merged all 3 threads

It's ironic as I received two DVD's from them today :-D

    Bargains I might add ;-)

This will probably drive CD-WOW out of business completely.

I'd use the opportunity to say bye-bye to CD-WOW!, their prices weren't that great since a few months back anyway!

Could even be the fourth!! (if you include the original thread!)

    Quote:For the record companies to be able to afford to do that, though, they need to keep prices high elsewhere. So, in effect, consumers in the UK and other developed countries are paying more than they should and are subsidising the music industry's global fight against piracy. { End of Quote }

And they have the nerve to saying people downloading music are stealing :giggle:
