CDiscount 40% Account credit Fraud

I placed an order for 42" Plasma Tv during Ashes Series and now i got an email from them that they cannt process my order due to some security reasons after taking money from my bank account. Can they do this after taking money from my account.

sounds like they didn't actually expect england to win, and trying to backtrack the orders.

If you want to tv just keep complaining. IF you don't get a full refund.

Thats ok that they didnt expect England to win but they still run the campaign and now they are telling me they cannt process my order. I am going to file a legal case.

strange-why cant they process your order? any explanation? I ordered a netbook,its been delivered this morning and Im getting my 40 percent credit.

thats extremely vague- "some security check"-on what? your card? I fail to understand what their problem is-I know at least 3 other people who made big orders during the ashes promotion with no problems.

Ring back, tell them you're happy to complete any security checks, and you're concern as if there is a problem with your account/card you'd like to know so you can report to the police.

I ordered tv on 23/08/09 and ordered a laptop on 24/08/09 just before the game finished. I dont understand the meaning of conducting checks after taking the money out from my account. They are refunding the money but i want the package. Can anyone please help me how can i make a complain or something.

Just simply phone and ask if you pay with another card, can you reorder those items and get the 40% credit offer because of your unfortunate scenario.

If you get a good CS, he/she will ask a supervisor or get back to you.

In the last 20% account credit promotion they cancelled a bed order I placed, but still gave me the £40+ account credit!

Sounds strange, I'd be asking for details of the security problem they have with you. If they're not willing to continue then you could probably take it to small claims court but there's a risk you'll lose alot if you don't win.

To have any chance of winning the first stage would be to prove a contract exists, their T&C's seem to protect them pretty well so very much doubt the OP could have much success.

agreed, difficult one to judge hence why I warned about the cost of losing.

I'd be annoyed at this, but I don't think there's alot you can do. Phone up, ask nicely, then start shouting if that didn't get you anywhere!

I am not sure if this is fraud, I bought a £400 netbook during the promotion with no problems. Just wondering now what to spend the £160 when (if) it arrives!..

In a related question. I bought some stuff on ebay the other day, clearly mispriced, but from a big seller. They took the money through Paypal and sent order confirmations. But the next day reversed everything through Paypal and cancelled the order.

Do I have any type of claim here, on the basis that taking the money and sending the confirmation constitutes a contract? Or am I scuppered by them having refunded it almost straight away? Or by something else like it being clearly a misprice.

Thanks for the response. I have already spoke to a customer asiistant regarding this matter and he told me that he cannt help me as this check has been done by some security checking agencies. I just want to know I am paying the full money upfront (in advance) and the company took money from my bank account and now after all this your company is claiming that they cannot process my order. As far as bank is concerned i talked to them earlier and ask them to process the company payment.
I will apprieciate if company process my order and even i can ask my friend to pay for the transactions in only condition that I will be eligible for the 40% account credit scheme.

Hi,
I spoke to an assistant today again, he told me that now the company cannt do anything expect refunding the money. When i asked them about the security checking thing and the reason behind declining the order, he kept me telling that this is done by some third party and we cannt give you any reason as well as no contact reference to the checking company was given to me to contact them to know the reason.
I am really disappointed with all the answers and now i am looking for some legal advice to see whether i can know why the company declined my orders and how further i can go.
