    Center Parcs question.

Never been before but the whole family is going for a weekend break in September at the Whinfell one.

Looking at the activities it mentions booking them in advance. Is this necessary as I didn't really wish to be locked into anything and just wanted to do what I liked the look of once I got there but I'm worried they will all be full.

They do tend to sell out.
It's a real bummer but if you don't book, you may well not get.
I personally think they have just enough places for them to sell out so there is no waste on their part and they can get things done and out the way as quickly as possible.
I suppose that's business for you.
I thought with the prices they charge, they could afford to hold a few more sessions of the activities so that people don't feel they have to pre book at can have what they went there for, a nice relaxing care free holiday.

We were really pleased we had booked things that sold out, like the evening with owls, and others that we changed our minds about we cancelled when we got there.

i worked there, its fine to book when you get there - you get a booking form with the different activities on offer in your pack.....but its your preference really

book a few bits at least. kids stuff sells out quick. havent really done adult stuff!!!

Definitely book before you go, but go to any leisure booking point (restaurants, sports place, bowling etc) to cancel. As long as you cancel 24 hours in advance (or have a good reason if its after this) you get a full refund - and there is no booking fee

I may have to think about booking some stuff it looks like.

Is the paintballing usually full of little kids? I don't want to be the only full grown man shooting twelve year olds in the face.

do you have to pay alot for these extras? would love to take the kids there but heards its really expensive, i thought it was mega expensive due to all the activities there, but if you have to pay on top its more than mega expensive

It's put me off going again Sassie.
I went the once a few years ago and yes, it was expensive to start with, then to pay on top for these, I need a lottery win before I can go back.

Fifth comment on that thread has basic prices. Thread is a couple of years old so the prices may be out of date.

We used to go twice a year because we could get a really cheap break out of season (worked out cheaper than the £9 travel lodge rooms at one stage!) but then they stopped doing vouchers and the prices increased. We have booked for christmas this year but not sure we will go at all next year. They say the earlier you book the cheaper it is, but dont think this is true. Looking at the same dates for 2010 and 2011 they are sometimes the same...

The pool is free and can easily spend a lot of time in there (says no cooler boxes etc, but loads of people take them in and the staff never pass comment - so works out cheaper than paying for food in there, although its not that badly priced considering its a captive audience). Activities are expensive and kids will want to do EVERYTHING!

Used to really recommend it to everyone and, as I said before, go twice a year. Now I still think its great, but overpriced

    yeah no more codes!!

Just looked at the prices for food and I think it made my eyes bleed. I can understand expensive full meals but £9 for a chicken panini?

Can anyone tell me if the on site Starbucks sells coffee at its normal price or if I will need to sell a kidney to get a latte?

We used to go at least once a year, however we never did the rip off activities. Just a chill out time in the pool and riding our bikes.

prices must have gone up then, because we dont normally find them any more expensive than eating out normally. Think the food place at the pool is brilliantly priced considering they have a captive audience, could charge a lot more than they do.

Not good because we are going in december!

Just looked at the page again and I see that a couple of the more 'cafe' style places don't have menus so perhaps they are more reasonably priced?
