Changing Broadband service provider.

Currently using BT.

So would like to change, but as I work at home, so would need this to be pretty quick.

Anyone know which is the quickest at changing over and won't give me down time?

Also which will give best and most competitive service to price.

Down time should be minimum. Switch over is normally a 10 day process, day 10 being the day you switch. It's often done in the twilight hours, but is a manual process. Downtime on day 10 should be less than 5 minutes.

I currently pay £35 including line rental which isn't that good, only paid that because I couldn't get talk talk, problems with past tenants and an active account on the line. Heard about 02, so want to make sure I am not going to have down time.

Virgin don't offer cable here, so not sure that would be worth it unless I can pay for TV together, got rid of sky, so could want the footie only really.

You will have downtime (it can't be avoided) but it should only be around 5 minutes whilst the jumper man runs a new jumper for your new broadband.

That's not a problem, was thinking rather larger delays (days), as I work from home. X)

Get your mac from BT and give it to O2, they'll provide you with a date of switch over. On the switch over day watch for your hubs B light as it'll turn a solid orange and you'll not be able to access the net. Switch to the o2 box and await synch.

Could be less dependent on how good the jumper man is.

No probs.

I phoned BT and asked for my Mac code because i was off - they halved my broadband bill and then said if i paid line-rental in full for the year for £113 they would give me a £30 credit on my account to worked out around £6 a month for line rental that way..

May be worth a call to BT and no down time at all...

You need to edit your title changing.

Theres only 3 choices when it comes to ISP's, BE*, O2 or SKY, believe me all the others arn't worth looking at, I should know, I've had most of them past few years! lol

BE*: bethere.co.uk/web…age

SKY: sky.com/sho…and

02: o2.co.uk/bro…nd/
