Depending on what type you have (mortice, nightlatch, euro cylinder) will depend on price. I would give it a go myself if I were you.

    Theres a web site called

    www.myhammer.co.uk

that allows you to advertise what you need doing (for free) and then tradesmen quote you for the cost to do the work.

I have to say changing a lock is on the easiest DIY jobs to do if you have a yale type

just pop down to B&Q and buy another yale lock, take out the tumbler in your current lock, swap it with the new one, and Bobs your uncle.

    Regards

if its a DG door its pretty easy - look at teh lock and you'll see two screws, undo these and take it to a shop that sells locks n buy an identical one and then put it back in

Agree with this. I did this myself and frankly I've seen chimps at the zoo who are better with tools than me.

    lol -

thanks for the replys - I'll go to BQ and check it out and see if I can buy the lock and get someone to fit it as I really not sure what to do ....

If the actual lock is ok, then just change the barrel (i.e wot u do when u move into a new house). If however the whole lock has had it then slightly bigger job (but not difficult)
