Put your details in here & it will search 50 insurance sites .... good luck

Have you thought about doing the Pass Plus test... it's an extra lesson or two where u drive at night or in the rain if possible... u get a certificate for it and it brings down your insurance slightly.

Try putting yourself as second or third driver.
If thats not possible try adding additonal drivers who have experience to your policy, even if they will never be driving. Iv added my sister even though she never drives my car and my premium went down by £300.
Also try www.bell.co.uk and get the flexibell policy where you can taylor make your policy. That was the best deal i found for myself.

Also try talk to them over the phone. They normally drop the premium in order to make a sale

once you find your best deal on a comparison website go to quidco and see if there cash back to be had, if so clear your cookies and go through their link, theres up to £90 cashback on certain insurers

Moneysupermarket and Confused.com

I think those were the best i tried.
I'm 23 but just passed and tried gettin insurance at the end of last year.
Got it for £900 from £1200/1300 by adding my parents as additional drivers.

try www.ecar.co.uk

Depends a lot on where you live. You could try insure.co.uk and co-op who are both reasonably good for younger drivers. Also worth signing up with Quidco as there's a fair amount of cashback available with new car insurance policies.

Really, you just have to keep trying until you find a company that likes you

Don't bother as a learner it is silly money!!! Just tried for my nephew who is now 18. When you pass it's best to do pass plus and then look at some of the insurance companies like more than which do not allow you to drive after 11pm (if you do you pay a fixed amount each time). We got an insurance quote down from £1300 to £500 for this

quinn direct are rather good for insuring young drivers

Quinn Direct are cheap, but don't cover some things you'd expect to be covered on basic policies - such as windscreens. I found this to my expense.

With Adrian Flux now, they are cheap enough too.

Ecar is pretty good

NFU were the cheapest when we had to take out a policy including our 17 year old son as a learner driver, also when you pass your test you fill in a young driver agreement and they refund you £100;-)

I think it must be cheaper for girls because my daughter is a learner and she has her own car with my husband as a name driver and we only pay £795 with Swinton Insurance - I guess thats one for the girls:-D and by the way that fully comp

Dont think Cheap insurance for young drivers actually exists, im nearly out of that range so kind of going down slowly!

as above, no such thing as cheap car insurance for a 17 yr old!!

yep girls are definitely cheaper. when i was learning the girl that lived down the street was too, both had the same car (1.0 litre micras, same age). her quote was 1000 mine was 1600

Quinn Direct are the cheapest I could find for my missus, 19, driving a 1.1l hatchback @ £860 or so (first year)

Hope you find something cheap for yourself.

lol is that more than the car?

when i was insuring my car at 17 i was paying more than the car was worth alot more, the best thin to do is to find the cheapest with you as the named driver and then be really really careful cause as soon as you've got a years no claims you can easily knock 40% off

Yep lol! Put value as £2000

Lloyds TSB seems ace plus £80 via quidco

Cost of insurance using same postcode, age and car varies widely depending on company, presumably because they partly base their risks on their own claims experience. Hence, for example, one company may be cheap for say a 17 year old at AA1 postcode but not AA2.

It might be worth asking a trustworthy local broker who might know which (of the limited number) of companies whose products he sells is cheapest for you. Otherwise, you'll just spend hours online (or on phone). And you'll probably have to do it again in a year's time.:x

try adding someone with a really good driving record as a named driver, this sometimes brings down the cost

I had the same problem a year or so back and was searching every insurance company you could think of. Eventually went with LIVERPOOL VICTORIA who were £500 cheaper than any of the others. Give em a go.
