If you are making a trip to Scotland - eye tests there are free - the optician is paid by the government for performing the test. So you get something for that tax you are paying that they are frittering off in expenses, and the optician is getting a turn even without selling glasses.

So with your prescription, you can then order from a site like...…en/

...who even give you quidco money back - and the majority of glasses are under the 18 quid threshold that you need to pay import duty upon.
