Any deals on 4* hotels in Hong Kong or Shanghai for Feb/March?

They seem to be incredibly expensive at the moment.

I need a 4* hotel in central Shanghai on the 28th Feb for 5 nights then I need a 4* hotel in Central Kowloon or Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong on the 5th March for 5 nights.

I really don't want to spend more than £50 per night including tax.

Many thanks in advance to all replies!

P.S. I was messing about on priceline.co.uk and got a bit crazy but I had a maximum bid of £53 excluding tax rejected for hotels in Central Kowloon or Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong per night on priceline.

I've had a look on www.octopustravel.com, 4 star hotels in Shanghi are from £171 on a room only basis, total price for a double room for 5 nights. The lead in hotel was 3kms from city centre, there were hotels nearer to centre for around the £200 mark.

Hotel in Hong Kong do seem to be on the expensive side when you are looking to go, the best I have found so far for Hong Kong is with www.hotelopia.co.uk the 4 star Regal Oriental is £295 on a room only basis for the 5 nights.

Remember with Octopus and Hotelopia you can get cashback with Quidco

I'm sure I've looked at those sites over and over but there must be bargains somewhere hotels wise in Hong Kong.

Am I trying to book too early?

Thanks for your reply though - Quidco is always good !

You aren't booking too early, as the hotels fill up the room rates go up. When they are down to their last few rooms they aren't going to give them away at a cheap rate. However most of the sites like Octopus, Hotelopia etc contract their hotel rates for up to a year at a time, with set rates for set periods so their prices won't really change.

Just found the Regal Oriental for £36 per night total of £180 with GTA

Nice hotel but ideally I want to be anywhere between ladies street in Mong Kok and the end of Tsim Sha Tsui...

Basically where all the main shopping is.

I will keep looking though, thanks for your help!

You are welcome, if I come across anything else will let you know. Hope you get something sorted

Hi phillai
I'm not familliar on the areas in Hong Kong but Midas Hotels have pages of them and they do have some good prices from what I can tell. Some of them even have free nights. Worth having a look!

HK and Shanghai are 2 of the most expensive places in the world for hotels, you cant get a decent 3* hotel in HK for less than £50,in Shanghai you are looking at the same if not more...also Feb/Mar is Chinese new year time so its the most expensive time of the year

Chinese New Year is on the 7th Feb this year. I knew it would be expensive then so I tried to avoid that date.

I think Shanghai is alot cheaper hotels wise as compared to Hong Kong.
