    cheap potato peeler

    Hi,

Does anyone know the best place to buy a cheap potato pealer? I live in Southampton.

Asda ones are about £2.50 each. Seems abit of a waste as 10kg of potatoes just cost me 30p.

Hey fellow southamptoner, how about the pound shop or tesco at home?

Where did you get the cheap spuds?

2.50 for a potato peeler is perfectly reasonable, assuming the average cost of potato peelers is something around 3 or 4 quid.

Your comparison with the price of potatoes is nonsensical.

    Yours logically.

I think I paid 44p for my potato peeler - from Asda or Wilkinsons

Is there an Ikea near you? They are normally pretty cheap for kitchen stuff and usually good quality too!

Just paid 37p for a can opener from Wilkos, so would imagine their potato peelers are pretty cheap too!!

ooh yeah, ikea! we have one of those now!

Thanks for the advice. Will save me some time. There is a massive ikea that's just opened but I forgot about wilkinsons.

I bought the cheap spuds from asda a couple of days ago. They were reduced.

£0.99 and available in Southampton ikea.com/gb/…323

    Cheers.

Now the dilemma of what to do with the potatoes beyond peeling them. Mashed potato anyone?

You could always pin them together with those ribbed wooden dowel things that you get with flatpack furniture.

Perhaps this could be a good way of constructing a very cheap conservatory.

When I was a lad lol, we always used to buy a 20kg sack of potatoes. Used to last forever. So few people seem to do it these days. Would be nice if this encouraged people to economise. 20kg of potatoes for a family lasts for ages.

Really? Whenever I buy spuds they spout in a week, what am I doing wrong?!

Keep them in a cool, dark place and make sure you take them straight out of the polythene bag as these are th main reason.Newspaper in a cardboard box is good, under the sink or in the shed.

^ yes, the poly bag encourages sweating which encourages sprouting. Somewhere dry with paper is good. Rather like wicking sweat away by wearing cotton clothing.
