Cheap Timber - Raised Flower Beds

Hi, just wondering if anyone knew the best place to get cheap timber. I am wanting to build some raised beds at my allotment, and don't want to spend a lot. I have kept a look out in skips, and on local Gumtree. The beds don't need to be very high. I was thinking of the Value Decking Range from Wickes. But wondered if anyone knew a cheaper alternative, as I am going to need quite a lot.

i went to my local wood yard and bought reject deck planks for mine.

Check for reclaimed timber on gumtree, or free pallets as advised earlier. I've saved a fortune on fence posts

You may want to check that reclaimed railway sleepers might contain asbestos and are legally banned from use in edible crops.

really? No. Oil/tar/etc perhaps

Allotments are a good source.

i use dense concrete blocks (215MM X 440MM X 100MM) and some cement/sand to joint the raise bed. i find its quite easy to work with. each block is quite heavy and might not need any cement to joint but i need my to be neat and tidy.
at first i thought of using wood to do raise bed but it work out cheaper for me by using these concrete block. 10 of these block from tommy's yard cost £12.67 with free delivery anywhere in the uk and you can ring and check with them first, that is enough for 4.5 meter length side. i've use this company twice, they use travis perkins to delivery their product which i find strange.

Wicks economy decking was the cheapest solution I could find to the same issue.

Thank you very much for all of your responses, it is really appreciated. I shall explore the different possibilities, and hopefully get some made in the next few weeks.

Thanks again for all of the advice. I spoke to Travis Perkins today. They advised me that they had some water damaged decking, that they will sell me at a discount, so really happy with thathatt, and will pick some up this weekend. Really looking forward to getting started
