    cheap train tickets to Birmingham!

Taking my son to see DanTDM in Birmingham we are from Edinburgh but couldn't get tickets when he was up here, are there any cheap train ticket companies or codes that I could use?

Some more information would be helpful in finding you cheap train tickets:
Start station, Finish station, Date, departure times, any railcards, number of passengers (children, adults).

There are a number of ways of getting cheaper train tickets, including the use of a railcard, ticket-splitting, booking in advance.

I use TicketySplit from MoneySavingExpert and do a number of searches to decide which train I will travel on (based on price and suitable times).

For example, I'm travelling from Brighton to Birmingham this weekend for £8.90 each way, rather than £50!

Firstly have you got a railcard ? That will save you a bundle . Secondly try splitting the journey . You may find it cheaper to buy a ticket to Glasgow and another from there to Birmingham . Virgin west coast have a few cheap tickets on their website. Also 3% on quidco. I'm assuming its 23rd October from a quick look on google

Which station in birmingham are you going to (there are like 6 or 7)?

Here's the cheapest I could find from Edinburgh to Birmingham International (taking a guess at which station).

I made a spreadsheet, so hopefully it's clear which tickets and trains:

Have you looked at National … Have you looked at National Express?http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx

    Didn't fancy 8 hours on a bus

    Do you need accommodation?

Your posts seem to suggest that you're travelling on the 22nd (to see the gig) - and back on the 23rd (the day after the gig).

Accommodation could have a fairly big impact on the overall cost of your trip.

Source: I live in Birmingham and have no idea what you're expecting, to be honest.

Hi there, yes we are going to stay overnight in a hotel near the hippodrome

    Hi

Seems like you've sourced a decent hotel for where you are in Birmingham city centre.

Have you looked at air fares?

Every time I've been up to Glasgow/Edinburgh on business trips it has been cheaper to fly from Birmingham International to those cities, rather than taking the train.

Getting from Birmingham International to Birmingham New Street shouldn't be that hard, really. It is a bit though, unless you know the bus services.

If I was attempting your journey, I'd take a c2 hour flight and a taxi. If I had time, I might consider getting the 900 from International into Brum City centre, but then you need to know how to walk across Brum from the M&S on the corner to where you want to go.

Last time I gave real people directions it involved them getting from the NEC to the NIA. That was fun.
