AVG and its free

avg or avast, both free

I agree

what be like the best anti-virus regardless of price?

I agree too!

AVG.xxx

for the 2nd time today:
Kaspersky IS which is free if your a Barclays customer!

even if you have to buy it, its worth every penny

mod

Best online virus scan is this housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/ IMO it really is the dogs, and it is totally free. I use it about once a month and also have AVG on my computer. And, touch wood, never had a virus

Since installing WIndows Live Onecare (not free), I've not had a single virus or adware etc appear on my pcs. I wouldn't change it for a freebie as I know it works fantastically and doesn't slow down the pc like Norton.

avg no problems

had avg but wouldn't update properly ,

now got avast but need to restart my lappy too often :x

Microsoft Live OneCare has had some pretty bad reviews in the PC press. In fact it has had such bad press that Microsoft say they are no longer going to try to sell it and are giving up on it.

Here is one review from PC Pro magazine.

The review says

"With the possible exception of the anti-virus, none of OneCare's features are anywhere near the quality you could get with an equivalent standalone package. If you really insist on buying software that offers a lot of mediocrity, go ahead and buy OneCare. Otherwise, give it a wide berth".

Here is an article saying OneCare is being dropped

Not quite true.

They both sell their anti virus and other security products.

But they both offer anti virus free for HOME USE.

If you go to their web site you need to make sure you downloed their free home product rather than a 60 day trial or other trial.

I used to run AVG but now prefer Avast.

how often does this question get asked, daily? does no-one search before they post??

Nod32

if you know whats what.

AVG and avast are OK for some people. light home users.
for me cos my PC is on 24/7 i need some darn good protection and very light on ram usage too
