Cheapest carpet fitted?

Anywhere better / cheaper than the obvious carpet right?

Someone local to you,an independent shop,we used Carpet Right first then found they were a lot cheaper elsewhere.

it all depends where u live....and get a few quotes off ppl

No local carpet places where ever you live?

If you live anywhere near Kidderminster, there are a few places left, but not as many as you would find 15 years ago; the independents have all gone to the wall.

Many independent carpet fitters all over (who also get the carpets at a discount) . Ask your friends or down your local Pub for recommendations. Carpetright don't have their own fitters (last time I bought from them ) they subcontract , you pay the fitters directly , so you could be cheeky and on some pretext ask your local Carpetright who they use and go direct to the fitters .

You'd get a decent carpet fitted with underlay in a double bedroom for a little more.

Carpet you have to try the the usual highstreet suspects
But buy your own carpet grippers and underlay from the internet.
The markup via the highstreet is astronomical and you get the best quality underlay at fraction of the cost of the rubbish they will give you

Anyone who fits carpets is cheaper than carpet right

Exactly, or less. Recently purchased a £55 carpet for a double bedroom and used existing old underlay fitting it in under 2hrs (room had lots of shapes). Easier than you think of you know someone willing to give it ago.

I got carpet suppliers in the family, the carpet you see at Carpetright is normally available 30% less in carpet wearhouses. But it's not a good idea to buy a carpet based on the cheapest you can find. Decide what type of carpet is most suitable for the room in regard use. Then decide what sort of colour you want. Finally decide how much you can afford in total. Then try and get what you need, try eBay even used good carpet is better then something that's going to ripple up or wear out in a month.

SCS charge £3 / square metre and Carpet Right charge £3.50 / square metre for fitting. Dependent on carpet cost, SCS may be cheaper.

Did you do this using any special carpet fitting tools - knee kicker/carpet stretcher? Only asking, as I have a small bedroom to do - about 5 m2. I haven't got any specialist tools that a professional carpet fitter would use. Thank you.

Set of knee pads optional, bolster, cheap knee kicker got me by.

Our previous carpet was laid on gripper rails, i went round the edge of the room with pliars pulling the gripper 'nails' up where they needed it reconditioning them essentially.

and remember any metal door strips that you can't save. good luck if you try it.

Oh and if you buy an off cut and aren't putting it down immediately because of Christmas or whatever, don't leave it rolled up, lay it down flat and unrolled somewhere if you've got the room to let it settle flat.
