Cheapest legal MP3 downloads

Hi,

Does anyone know of or can recommend site for cheap, legal, MP3 downloads please?. Allofmp3.com seem a very competitive site but i'm not sure if the downloads are legal or not.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you.
Kind Regards.

Totally legal, only thing is - you have to put $20 into your account - but you can spend it all on MP3s. Most are about 9c to my knowledge..

Hi fps_kyle,

Thank you. Guess that needing to put $20 into an account with mp3search.ru is fair enough if their downloads (or most of them) are 9c each. Do you know whether or not UK credit card companies cover problems experienced with these companies should they for arguments sake debit from a cardholder without their permission/over-charge/duplicate a debit?.

Are mp3search.ru the same company as allofmp3.com?. If not does anyone know if allofmp3.com downloads are legal downloads (for U.K. customers)?.

Thank you.
Kind Regards.

I think you'll find that they are totally illegal. I personally would steer well clear.

Hi, Thank you for your reply. Thought that i'd read somewhere that there was a possibility that the downloads weren't strictly legal but was not 100% sure. Think i'd better steer well clear too.

Does anyone have any idea (or recommendations) what the cheapest legal source for MP3 downloads is?.

Thank you.
Kind Regards.

i would go with ]http//ww…om/ until it's said they are illegal.

you can read more about the legal/illegal issues on wiki here > ]http//en…com

I've personally used allofmp3 for around 6 years (i think).

Never had any problems with credit/debit card fraud.

As for legality, it's legal in Russia but not here. However the British authorities have said they are going after the company, not customers so you would not be (currently) prosecuted or anything.

However various authorities have been trying to shut it down for years unsuccessfully so i doubt it'll happen anytime soon.

Saying that...

In June 2006, the ]British Phonographic Industry (BPI) announced they believed that British users of the site broke UK copyright laws, ]as revealed by the BBC.
However, upon further investigation by UK readers of the social news website ]digg.com, according to the ]Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (c. 48) - section 22:
"The copyright in a work is infringed by a person who, without the licence of the copyright owner, imports into the United Kingdom, otherwise than for his private and domestic use, an article which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe is, an infringing copy of the work."

The use of the phrase "otherwise than for his private and domestic use" implicitly appears to absolve consumers from copyright infringement if they are buying from allofmp3.com for their own use as opposed to reselling copies. However, this specific legal point pertaining to the allofmp3 service has yet to be tested in UK courts.

In Russia, they can close businesses with no advance warning. Say, tomorrow WTO will say that Russia can join it if it'll resolve copyright problems. AllOfMP3 will be closed the next day (it'll reopen under some other name, but that's how it goes there :D).

As to BPI, they never tested legality of AllOfMP3 in any court, including Russian and British, to the best of my knowledge. So they might believe that it is illegal but without court by their side, their beliefs are irrelevant.
