Anybody know any good cheap and reliable places for external hard drives over 500Gb, as am looking to back up all my data off my computer so i can install windows 7 soon. The hard drive needs to be as cheap as possible and reliable (so it won't break with all my data on it :P)

Unfortunately cheap and reliable dont go together well.have you considered usin an extra internal hard drive as this reduces the chances of an accidental unplug or power supply failure causing you to lose all your data,

I was thinking about another internal one, but wasn't sure if that idea would work with installing windows 7.

Say for example i had all my data on one hard drive, and installed windows 7 on the other one, would i be able to access all the data on the hard drive

I see what you mean,I have just done this on mine ,i put in a new hard drive and installed 7 on it and then used the other drive as a D drive and deleted all the windows stuff,However i wouldnt really like to recommend you do this in case it goes wrong and you blame me lol,I was okay as i have a usb drive as well with everything backed up on,

Yer i think an external hard drive is probs the best bet just to be safe. Any make you would recommend for one?

I just use a Verbatim 250gb 2.5" as there is no messing with a power supply but if you need something bigger maybe someone else can recommend something,
