Cheapest sound card for PC. ??

Hi there, think my onboard sound card has packed in on my Asus motherboard. Have tried my speakers on my other PC with no probs. So i`m looking for the cheapest PCI sound card to fit instead.

Have seen one on play for £6.99 but has one review and ist bad. Have seen another on ebuyer for just under £8 delivered and has 46 decent reviews.

Anyone find anything cheaper...?

Cheers

i think a soundcard at that price is not worth using, you may aswell use your on-board sound.

Creative make nice cards, save up £20 or so, and get a better one.

you can really tell the differance.

Paul,

I reckon my on-board sound is knackered thats why i`m wanting a cheap replacement..
The PC its going in is my old second PC if you like. Its mainly used for converting avi files to dvd format so only needs basic sound for conveniance. Its not used for gaming, mp3 playing or watching video so don`t need nothing fancy.

Ah i see, cheapest one i have seen is on Ebuyer £4.99

]Asonic 4 Channel Soundcard C-media 8738 Chipset 3D - PCI

lots of good reviews too

I have one of the cheapo asonic cards from ebuyer. The 8channel model. Sounds reasonable though the analogue outputs, though i purchased because it has spdif (digital output) feature. Fantastic sound when coupled with an external av receiver. i think the cheaper cards lack the spdif output.

I have 2 spare soundcards

Soundblaster Live 1024 PCI sound card -- £11.50 delivered

6 Channel 5.1 PCI 3D Surround Sound Card (C-Media CMI8738/PCI-6-CH-LC chipset).

£5.50 del.
