yeah, that would help, sorry.

From Falkirk, Glasgow, Kincardine, either one of these locations.

Whereabouts in Yorkshire please? Also, when do you want to go and what is your ideal departure station out of those you mention. How long do you want to stay?

Thanks.

Cayton Bay, Yorkshire

leaving 18 July 2009 return 1 week later

My ideal departure station would be Falkirk

Afraid your dates are too far in advance to book online (try again at the end of April) but I've looked at the same journey at the end of June to see what sort of prices come up.

So, for Falkirk High to Scarborough (nearest main station to Cayton Bay) June 20th to 27th best return is £50 for all of you provided you have a Family & Friends Railcard. If you look at the end of April use www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com as that is one of the easiest to find the cheapest fare on any particular day. Select the cheapest single fares for each journey and look down the list of trains to find the lowest price.

To obtain a railcard go to railcards-online2.co.uk/Fam….do and fill in the form. £24 for one year. Without the railcard the journey I've quoted above would cost £92.65 so the card would pay for itself with just this one trip.

How many adults can travel on the railcard with 3 children?

Up to 4 adults provided at least one is named on the card.
Here's the relevant information from the railcard site:
Group size

Bring anyone along!
To use your Family & Friends Railcard, your group must consist of at least one named cardholder and one child (5-15 years of age).

Up to four adults and four kids can travel on the one Railcard, and they don't even need to be related. So you can bring friends along too and save on their fares.
Any two adults can be named cardholders. Why not add a grandparent, friend or childminder as your second named cardholder?
If the only child in the Family & Friends Railcard group is aged less than 5 years of age, the Railcard holder may purchase a discounted ticket in order for that accompanying adult(s) to qualify for the discount on their ticket(s).
Travelling with 'under fives'
Don't forget children under five travel free and each adult may take up to two 'under fives' with them. If the only child in the Family & Friends Railcard group is aged less than five years of age, the Railcard holder may purchase a discounted ticket for that child in order that the accompanying adult(s) can qualify for the discount on their ticket(s). All child fares are subject to a minimum £1 fare.
