Cheapest Way of Buying a Macbook Pro

    Banned
    Hi All

I am looking for the cheapest way I can get hold of a new macbook pro.

Mine is on its last legs, and am desperate for a new one, but £1k is steep.

    Any ideas?

I'm sure Apple are doing Interest Free Credit providing you pay in full over 12 Months. Probably the easiest way to part with your cash as it won't hit your wallet too hard in one go.

    Apple Refurb store?

If price is an issue do you actually need a Macbook Pro? Would another type of Laptop suit your needs? (This is not a PC / Apple debate starter...)

Its not so much an issue as much as I just think they are a bit overpriced!

Since having my mac, I could not imagine going back to windows sadly

That's fair enough, not an 'Apple' fan myself for laptops as a Windows based one will do everything I need. But as we all know want and need are very different things :-)

If you have a family member who's a student or holds an NUS card, you could ask them to get it via the Apple Student Discount page on 0% 12 months, it'll save you over £100 on the lowest priced Pro. Quidco tracks too

On it's last legs? ahaaaaaa an Apple product that isn't so perfect. Everyone bangs on about Apple products being so good - how old is your Mac pro?

Can it be upgraded any further? Adding more Ram and chucking in a SSD (if you haven't already done so) will give it a new lease of life.

Hush your infernal noise. Of course products eventually die, it's just that MBPs are built far better than pretty much every windows machine. I've had one for over 2 years now with heavy daily usage and it still feels like it's a month old - the only giveaway is that the battery is losing a little bit of charge, but after almost 1000 cycles that's understandable.

    if you haven't already ordered
-Currys have an offer on, £100 cashback for the retina 13' MacBook Pro
-if you buy a £1000 gift card from morrison's, you'll get 100p off per litre of fuel. If you take 2 small cars or 1 big car and fill up 100litres, thats a £100 saving
-Quidco is 1% so £10 saving

All in all, you're looking at a rMBP 13' which is usually £1000 for £790- a 21% saving which is greater than the Apple education discount!

If it's hardware problems then it might be worth contacting the retailer about getting it repaired. A top of the range laptop like that should be lasting more than four years unless you've been subjecting it to conditions that would have better suited a (semi-)rugged laptop.
