Cheapest way to send 5kg to Israel?

I've got to send a parcel to Jerusalem that weighs a tad under 5kg containing about £250 worth of cutlery.

Cheapest I've found is Parcel-2-Go/Fedex for £55ish, or RM Surface Mail (divided into 3 packets) for £48ish.

Seems a helluva lot for something smaller than a shoebox - does anyone know of any specialists in shipping to that part of the world who might do it a bit cheaper?

    Thanks for any help!

Yep, done a few searches but it's mostly all the usual suspects that seem to come up. Found one called Blue Star who specialise in London-Tel Aviv deliveries, and a lovely gent there quoted me £101!

    Tried them - £73.

Has anyone ever sent Royal Mail 'Printed Papers' and not actually had paper in the box? That would only be £30-odds, but I don't know if they'd check it or not, and what I could write on the customs label to make the two marry up.

royal mail struggle to deliver in the UK nevermind abroad i'm sure they would notice the difference between cutlery and paper

Ha ha! Except they'll probably charge me a zillion quid to check my bag into the hold, because otherwise I might try and attack the captain of the aircraft with my dessert spoons.

I wouldn't risk the printed papers thing in case it goes missing or anything goes wrong. You won't be able to claim any insurance presumably as you won't have declared what's in there. Having said that, are you planning to insure it at all?
