    Children Cursing...

My lil girl has started picking up on swear words,

she is only 3 but can quite clearly say F*** Sake.. and she has just picked up F*** You..

she actually is a perfect little girl and it is strange that she says it, we dont laugh at her but when we tell her off it just seems like she thinks she is getting attention by saying it, and when we ignore she says it she will repeat it 1-2 times more,

we have put her on a "naughty step" for 5 minute periods and she is good she does sit there and she says sorry at the end, but it still happens..

any advice on what anyone else has done.?

btw - im not a consistant swearer myself, my mum and my partner have used it in front of her by accident a fair few times... luckily she doesnt say it at pre-school but it has happened 1-2s in public.

My lil lad is 5, and to be honest, Im amazed he doesnt swear... his Dad just doesn't know when he is doing it! I just explained that Daddy sometimes says naughty words, but he shouldnt, and they will end up with him on the 'sad cloud' at school... its working so far! lol

My son is 2, and he says "puk off" and "your heading for it", lol. Guessing its the norm then, lol.

Coming from Glasgow and with our natural tendency towards tourettes, I am so carefull about what I say in front of my 3 year old. He picks up everything and has super hearing!

I told my boy before he even started to swear that these words are used by people who have a limited vocabulary and it really isn't cool to say them.
I also told him that there will be a time when you have the need/want to swear and people will take notice, but only if you don't abuse the words on silly matters.

my daughters 19months and keeps saying oh sh!t, the first time she said it i did laugh as i just wasnt expecting it, its not something i say, later found out it was my partner who said it when he did something on his laptop by mistake. its funny how she knows when to say it as she will say it if she drops a toy or something like that, we just ignore her most of the time and keep saying oh dear instead if she does say it.

I never swear in front of my Son and neither does my partner, consequently neither does he,

Funnily enough he got put on the green traffic lights at school for saying "darn it" the other day.

when my son first swore - we said the usual... bad word . yadda yadda .. don't say that... and he said it more... - we found that ignoring him and not reacting to it bored him and he never said it again ...

daughter hasn't quite got there yet thankfully !!

There is a nice concise word that perfectly describes what you've just typed, but because it's swearing I can't actually use it.

It begins with B and refers to a men's testicles.

Instead I will say balderdash and poppycock.

Wife beaters and rapists are nearly all public-school educated. Sorry, no offence, but it’s true.

When my sister was about 3 she used to swear quite a bit. She would say "f**k you" and "****"

She stopped after a while once no one paid her any attention

    Wasn't trolling my little friend.

when my son was this age and a little older we made the 'cloud' system (printed it on A4 and stuck on the wall) they use in school..start the day on the sun and be moved down to white cloud then black for any bad behaviour..then there is a sanction ie remove a toy they like or treat. If they are good they move up t the star and get a treat. We put all the family on it..so if your mum or o/h swear they would be sanctioned. They should be imo!

Worked for us (not with swearing tho, but my kids do say 'fart' and 'ass' and words like that cos they hear it on USA tv kids programs oO
I am happy that they hear swearing but know right from wrong and dont repeat it...my older kids swear, but if they call me and are angry they will swear then say sorry right away lol-convo takes twice as long!

i think they did the cloud system in my kids reception class.....its a good idea to get the whole family in on it.
