    Christmas jobs?

Just looking around at the moment.

Can any of you think of places that i could apply to?

Im 16 and havent had a job.

Ive talked about it on here before - and failed to get one.

I've applied at currys, b&q and comet, and failed to get a job..

I'd like to be able to apply online, can you think of anywhere.

    Rep if you can help.

Best of going into the stores, asking for an application form, that way people will think "oh he's got the confidence to come in and ask".

do the same when you have filled it in too.

most larger store will look for temp xmas staff

    dunno bout applying online tho

I go in and they ask for a CV (i also applied on boots)
I dont have a CV and as soonas they see i dont have any work exp its gonna go straight in the bin.

    nooooo

your young, they cant expect too much experience!

Most retail stores always prefer application forms. I never had any exp. when I got my job - been there 5 years now

I told them that in uhm, i cant remember what shop - muffin break? and they laughed in my face

Woolworth's or any of the big supermarkets? Alternatively the post office is looking for christmas workers!

Oh dude its hell i left after my as levels and i was assuring myself i would find work but nope took over 4months and no reply from anywhere i applied to and then the list of places you can apply runs out -if you have a local card shop or something apply there

    Try argos

    Tesco

    Sainsburys

    Asda

Im sure you will be the same but when i went in asking for jobs all i got was no and it knocks your confidence a bit and you get hesitant to go anywhere else and then you become what is the modern day me which is not good

Applying online is better but like nowhere does it - try hmv or virgin they do online apps

try woolies, imo retailers dont mind that your young because it means you are cheaper labour, they also expect you to be abit shy because youve just left school. the only hard thing is when they ask for references , so i would put the place of work experiance

I know M&S employe lots of xmas staff. I even heard at one store they have a day when anywhere can come in for an interview. Try there mate. also good company to work for.

yer same trouble here i left school and cant even get a freaking job in burger king well try asda, argos, tesco all the huge shops bassicly or go down to the AFCO

You will probs go to a few interviews and not get the jobs but good luck

I think its my area too its rubbish for jobs - youd think living in croydon.sutton there'd be loads of jobs but nope

    theworks.co.uk/hel…=11

Try the works - i applied there and by the time they offered me a job i had accepted woolies -which could have been a bad decision as the works might have had more of a future

was lucky 1st job i applied for got interview and then job but i sometimes take it for granted when i see people for example on these forums that cant find jobs

Not really my business but why have you left school? Any chance that you would look at some more education? I'm involved in edcation as a consultant to schools and am particularly interested in keeping young people in education / training. If finance is a problem, there are ways out of that. Even with a few GCSEs you can get into some form of training in the areas of your interest.

As for a job, can you get into a charity shop etc to get some
experince? Do you have someone who may give you a reference?

i think he is at college

I'm at college. just looking for a part time job - for a bit of money.

One of my daughters class mates turned 16 in September and has just got herself a part time job in Argos

I think argos and woolies are sexist as in a group of us there are 8 boys and 2 girls we all applied at woolies and argos and one girl got job at argos and the other at woolies, none of the boys even got an interview.

If you're not above lying about your age (which you shouldn't be, anyone can mis-write a digit), the Royal Mail hires christmas casuals on the basis that anyone capable of going three minutes without taking strike action can have a job. yeh but think about it the cost of train ticket

Im paying £40 a month on travel and thats just the bus

I do think jobs can be sexist though girls seem to get jobs easy for just looking the part and us lads seem to have to have more than that or maybe its just me being gollum

    night mate.

I got a job at 18 working at Asda. My first shift was only a few hours after i took my very last exam! Worked all through the summer until uni started.

May is probably the best time to put an application form in for work as many students return home and supermarkets need to hire more staff.
