    Cigar help for wedding party

Can I get some advice on cigar buying for my wedding... There are 5 of us in the wedding party, so can anyone recommend a good pack to get (and where to get them!) to help me celebrate my big day.

No one is a real smoker if that makes any difference..

I read that Fuente Fuente Opus X and Padron 1926 Anniversary are ok?

If none of you is a smoker, you're going to want a cigar that isn't too 'heavy'. Most Havanas are a bit of an acquired taste (though if you want to go that route I suggest Romeo Y Julieta).

For a light, slightly sweet smoke, but a cigar that is big enough to look the part, I suggest King Edward Imperials. They come in a pack of 5 and are a very pleasant smoke.

Congratulations on your forthcoming happy day.

    Because it's a wedding. Tradition
The same as when your child is born, it's something that just has to be done.

    Cool, thanks. If I mention dcx_badass can I get a discount :-D

Cohiba's are the only way to go.

I actually have some for sale but I don't think tobacco products are allowed on this site.

    Hi,

You want to get a good half corona. A decent sized cigar, with good flavour, but not some expensive monster that will take you over an hour to smoke. If you havent smoked cigars before it will be overkill to get something too big or too tasty. While I agree Cohiba is a great cigar, for a first time smoker it would be too much.

As it is a special occasion I would not go for the bog standard european cigars.

I can see you have two choices:

I know that Asda sell the aluminium tubes of Romeo & Julietta, Punch and I believe Hoya de Monterrey. all are Havanas (cuban) Half Corona and cost £5-6 each. This is probably best as the tubes keep them save and in good condition and you only buy as many as you want.

If you really want to splash out my favourite is the Fuente Short Story. This is a fantastic little cigar. Fat and not too long. Smooth and slightly lighter than cubans (this is from Dom republic).

either way, you will have to remember to get a cigar cutter from somewhere. (or a stanley knife will do at a push if this is a one off, (to cut the tip off)

    Enjoy

Thanks Ian, thats two votes for the Romeo's. I might go for them.
Do you know anywhere I could get the Fuente's from incase I go that way instead?

All good advice, but if he's after the 'tradition' of a cigar at a celebration, it's got to look the part Long is a prerequisite (although I agree that Cohiba is overkill for a beginner).

Something the size of a Churchill, or perhaps a little smaller, but not too much smaller. Otherwise he might as well slip them a pack of panatellas.

Agree, Churchills look the part, but again a new smoker. I would be surprised if they got through more that the first inch or two, but if it is tradition you want......

on the Fuente. These can be difficult to find. your problem will be that buying them on the net will most likely result in you having to buy a box of 25. So unless you plan on a lot of children quite quickly.......

I would have a look in the yellow pages for your area and look for a good tabaconist. Give them a call or pop in and see what they have. Final word of advice as a new cigar smoker, If browsing - dont get anything too thick. The tendency is to take big puffs which will overwhelm you.

I would stick to ring guages around 50 and under. (no thicker than the average finger)

    YEAH! Go for it!

Even if you jack it in after a few minutes at least you did what you wanted to on your wedding day.
