One for all you domestic god(esses) out there.

Is there a product available to clean the faceplate of an iron - as in domestic iron?

I vaguely remember one but can't remember its name.

Best thing to do is turn it on and lick it clean.

Let me know how you get on.

Is it black lead your'e thinking of?.

^lol. op, i think what you are referring to was a jml product... but, i reckon heat it up to full heat, take a scourer, gently scrub- maybe hold the scourer at the end of a wooden spoon to stop yer fingers burning. have tried it. it works. dont scrub too hard as teflon coated thingie may wear off. gently does it.

Thanks Sam.

Saw the Lakeland product after I posted but think I will go for something called Vilene Iron Cleaner: amazon.co.uk/Vil…g_c

you could let it cool down and then use a plastic scourer on it, don't need any other cleaning product.

turn it to hot and iron an old cotton tea towel - most of the brown bits seem to be melted polyester and it will melt again at too high a heat.
