clearout of house and loads of clothes - would someone collect them ?

    Hi

I have had a cleanup of the house and have 12 bags of decent clothes I dont want anymore -
I want to give them to a charity but I dont have a car and there isnt a charity shop within 5 miles - so it would be alot of bus journeys -
So I was wondering if anyone knew of a GENUINE charity who will come and collect all this stuff , there are some decent clothes which could be used again
I have also a desktop PC + metal desk to donate - can you do that ?

I really want to give to charity and not some cheapskate / profiteer from ebay / gumtree

can anyone help ? Im in the london area?

    Thanks

    sparkle

you could also phone your local health visitor who will pick the stuff up from you and they take it to the local womens refuge who are always in need of stuff

they are a mish mash of sizes and stuff - so sorry sassie -

the womans refuge sounds like a good idea - but how do I get my health visitors number ?

you might not have a local charity shop, but try and find anyone which does collections.

When i moved house, there was no local one to me, so i would take car loads of stuff to one (bikes, inflatable simming pools, push chairs and mostly toys). But i still had loads left.

I was given two numbers, one of my local homestart and another for a charity who did collections. Homestart came and took most of the baby furniture and the the charity shop came with a large van and took everything else. So it doesnt matter if you cant get to them, just ring and ask if they do collections and can pickup the items from you.

call your doctors surgery and they will give it to you that would be the easiest and quickest way
as most women and children are taken to the refuge with only the clothes on their back and no belongings so they are always in need

I'd suggest you'd have a local charity shop that would come and collect for you. Most of ours do including our British Heart Foundation Shop and our PDSA shop.

try this. I did an search and none came up near me (when i know there are stores), but it may work for you:

British Heart Foundation do collections, as I had a leaflet through my door today.

and most have naff all to do with charities, mine go straight in bin

On my local freecycle site, we often have wanted notes from a local refuge, perhaps you could post on your local freecycle, but stipulate you will only gift to a charity-and obviously ask for proof!

    1. the leaflets sent through arnt from proper charities - when I do a search online nothing comes up and there has been a warning placed about bogus collectors

Mine too, the only genuine ones we have are from the British Heart Foundation, always check on the bags for a registered charity number before giving!!

some are...just worth checking is all..

Can't believe you bin the bags that come through the door for "charities". Make great rubbish bags ... or recently I have actually been filling them up with charity clothes/items that I will take personally to the nearest shop.

leaving charity bags, whether genuine bags or not, doesnt mean it will be taken by genuine charities, its amazing what people will do to make a buck
