    Climbing a mountain tomorrow

Thinking of climbing Cadair Idris tomorrow. Has any one climbed it and has some advice on the best route without scrambling?

Found this. Has info on the different routes you could take.

Make sure you are suitably dressed, have sufficient safety equipment, a map & compass, and enjoy the views from the top. Good luck!

I'm climbing my local mountain tomorrow - Pen y Fan, in time for the sunrise.

just go to the pub and play on the adventure garden then have a nice drink n a rest

Thanks for the advice . Had an awesome day today. Weather was perfect. Took the Minffordd path up, difficult, but gave a sense of achievement. Missed the path coming down and ended up finding a vague 'path ' used by sheep. 6 hours start to finish. Bonus was the car park pay machine was out of order so saved 4 pounds. Saw some small patches of snow . Definately recommend it.

    zenben10, glad you had a good time:thumbsup:

I was on top of Pen y Fan at 6.25am, to watch the sunrise.

(Apologies if the next bit goes wrong - I've not posted photos before!)

First peep of the sun, looking from Pen y Fan towards Cribyn:

About an hour later; another walker took this photo of me on Corn Ddu (next to Pen y Fan):

cis_groupie. Well done yourself, you've got some awesome photos there. Just purchased Country Walking mag and there's a free booklet with it 'Britains 50 favourite walks' . Pen y Fan is at number four for Wales so i've now put it on my hit list.

OP, just head straight up

That was going to be my first comment but I was feeling a bit more helpful when OP posted :-D

Yes but some 'up' ways are easier than others

    Good thread.
Well done on climbing mountains. :-D

    Loved the pics from Pen-y-Fan.

We really like to see pics like that in the photos thread as well, if you mountaineers have time to post any more.

As you've no doubt guessed now, it's best done as early as possible, while it's still quiet & the 'tourist traffic' hasn't started. But whatever time of the day you do it, take a walk across to Cribyn, the views from there are even better:thumbsup:

(PM me if you want advice on where to park, best route to the top, etc:thumbsup:)

Chesso, I have quite a few - didn't know about the photos thread, I'll look through my photos & post some of the better ones:thumbsup:

(Like this one, also taken on Sunday morning, from Corn Ddu, looking back towards Cribyn (the peak on the left of photo) & the Beacons):

I'll get my nephew to show me how to post photos on here when i get my laptop back from the repair man. I'm on my mobile at the mo . Thinking of doing Helvellyn via Striding edge and back via Swirral edge next on May 10th.

Gorgeous - like being on the edge of the world. I must admit straight away that I don't like heights at all but that view is special.
    Looking forwards to seeing more.

Good luck with repair and with next climb.
Posting pics is relatively straight forward and if you fancy popping some into the photo thread, there is info in the first two posts.
