yeah get it for him! everyone has cod.. my sisters friends have it shes like 12 lol

no, simple

If your child wants fags and alcohol ( same age restriction 18) because all there mates had it would you buy it for them??

It is a violent game but it depends what your childs like? Is he gonna copy the game like some crazy kids in the states and shoot hes classmates if not, then i wouldnt worry too much. My partner is 30 and still loves it lol he has also been diagnosed with tourettes whilst playing it so be prepared.

yeah a fab comparison there oO

the comparison is just an example folks, calm down, i am not saying its the same, but it is similar situation, you shouldn't buy something or do anything because everyone else does.

Of course not but there is a bit of give take as a mother and just asking the question more from a view of people that have played it and can tell me what it is like

If you trust him enough to not go out, buy a machine gun and start spraying bullets, then yes buy it.

Asayer - my neighbour is 16 and married with a baby of 3 months. Should I call the police cause am pretty sure he is playing Black Ops just now - got the glass against the wall

btw this neighbour doesnt exist but quite sure he does elsewhere

if all his friends have it, his mum doesnt want him to feel left out. i know some people especially kids will lose all social skills that dont revolve around the subject of call of duty.

bossyboots - Give it a break, I didn't say it was the biggest crime in the world, people are so touchy on here when people voice an OPINION!!!! I dont care if you buy it for your kid personally, but i wouldn't do it for a 12 year old ( Hope my opinion is ok with everyone)

ps. Lock everyone up that gives anyone under 18 the game JUST KIDDING!!

As for kids not having it and feeling left out, thats just the way it is, as I said earlier, you don't have to buy something because everyone else has it. this is the problem today, too many parents feel pressured into buying things.

Restricting your kid from doing things they feel they should be allowed to means they'll probably rebel in some way eventually, usually a girl by being **** (slugs) and boys drinking/smoking (experience)

On the other hand, buying an unmatured child a video game which promotes violence could lead to violent acts in the future?

Difficult choice!

Yes and for most children/parents this would be the case, but there are those who experience heightened aggression and violence due to these types of games, this is usually in the States though to be honest

its in the states where they have guns and then they link it back to a game somehow. either the kid uses it as an excuse or people that will profit will twist the story

my son has been playing cod since he was 12. modern warfare isn't as voilent as it might seem. I find it somewhat cartoony. The people run at the speed of light and knife from 10 foot away. Its honestly very unrealistic. Medal of Honour now, i felt like i was really in a war in that game.

I guess so..... sad times!!

Wow, this has spiraled out of control, save the hate for someone that deserves it! The book was read as part of my research into this topic at university, just thought some may be interested in having a look, I wasn't saying people were ignorant at all!

So you would say no link between video game violence and violence in real life?

let him play if you think he is mature enough.. i hated it when i was like 14 when all my friends at that age were watching 18 films and playing games and my parents thought it was "too scary"... SO SO ANNOYING.

No - But please be aware that I fully appreciate the strain and pressures that children put on parents to buy such games and movies and therefore cannot blame the parents for buying it. I work in a secondary school, we had a huge amount of children off this week due to the release of the game too.

As said above this post i think maturity is a big factor in this debate.
