Hi,
We want a coffee machine for Christmas - been looking at bean to cup Gaggia Platinum and Titanium and Delonghi Perfecta.

We want to make espresso, cappucino & latte.

I have seen posts on here from people who seem to know their stuff on coffee, so feel free to educate me, point me in the right direction and let me know about any deals.

Many Thanks

best thing you can ever do is buy a grinder - although i have to admit the bean to cup machines are very neat. I've got one of these grinders and it's fab:

And to make the coffee i've got an aging Gaggia Classic which can make superb coffee - although if i had a wee bit more bish bosh i'd have bought a Rancillio Silvia like this one:

Actually, the Rocky and Silvia combo that is avilable from Dury's would be good and probably less than a mid-spec bean to cup machine :-D

I guess though it depends whether you want to be a coffee geek or just want decent and easy coffee....

If you are spending that much I strongly suggest you get one with twin steam compression (I think that's the right word). This allows you to steam milk while your coffee is being made, rather than having to wait which is what happens for single steamers.
I've had a Gaggia single steamer for 2 years now and I love it. Amazing coffee every time. If you can go to a Gaggia specilist shop, they will explain all the different models and help you choose the most appropriate one for you.
Enjoy your coffee...

Hi,

I've got a nespresso. Which has a steamer on the side and uses pod to make coffee. It's really easy to use, no mess and compact so it doesn't take over the kitchen counter.

This is very helpful, thank you all very much.

for really good reviews and info on all the different types of machines have a look at coffeegeek.com - it was a real eye opener for me as i always assumed things like all gaggia machines would be good and that as long as it was pumped it would be fine but i soon learned about temperature stability, boiler capacity etc etc.....before you know it you'll be a geek as well and then you'll be doing stuff like roasting your own beans - let me know if you want to know what popcorn maker is good at roasting :-D

PS - rep all round for coffee loving!!

We have the Delonghi bean to cup and it is fantastic. Worth every penny of the great deal of money it cost.
So simple to use. You can have a great coffee, however late for work you may be.

Ive had 6, yes 6 Gaggia Titaniums in less than 2 years, all faulty, now using Jura and would recommend you do the same if you want a bean to cup machine

This Delonghi has got 250 quid off at ]Amazon.

That's a good price, was looking at this yesterday for £641 - automatic milk frother.

Now checking with coffeegeek & looking at Jura machines.

Thanks everyone

The milk jug is very handy, it can be stored in the fridge and is easily slotted in as required.
Also provides sumptuous frothed milk for hot chocolate and is great with soya.

Is this the machine you have - would you recommend it?

Absolutely.
We love good coffee, but don't always have the time to bang out grounds and steam milk in jugs. This does the lot with the push of one button.
You also get the opportunity to sample any bean available instead of being trapped in the expense of Nespresso/pod type systems.
