College sportshall being built next to my house,What rights do i have?

Please can anyone help!!!! Plans have been submitted for a four storey sportshall with surrounding classrooms, right outside my bedroom window(We have a loft conversion). At present i overlook a field but the local college wants to extend. The worst part is the new building is predominately made of glass(loads of windows)The local estate agent thinks we will lose £30k on our house.Just wondering if anyone knows what rights i have, with regards to loss of privacy, light, security, noise, view etc.Any ideas would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help given.

well as at the moment its only plans u can object to them and oppose the plans - u can write to the planning section of ur local council and maybe get local support together and protest against these plans

CAN YOU NOT OBJECT ON THE GROUDS OF PRIVACY AND DEVALUATION OF YOUR HOUSE NOT TO MENTION THE RISE IN NOISE LEVELS?
YOU SHOULD BE CONSULTED BY THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT BEFORE THE DECSION IS MADE, GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR LOCAL COUNCILLER AND M.P.
GOOD LUCK

thanks for advice. i have objected, but plans are recommended to be passed next week.its kind of a david versus goliath moment. i'm just hoping someone knows some sort of technicality i can use(for instance building up to private property,or if i'm entitled to compensation) i feel a bit like a headless chicken at the moment, dont know what i can do!

Can I rent the room that overlooks the male changing rooms. *I'll get my coat & my ASBO*

its a new build and will be approx 20ft from my back garden(p.s. i will have a car park directly outside aswell, and a 150 ft wind turbine that will be approx 80 ft away)

It is my understanding that planning notices should have been posted to all affected neighbours and usually put on nearby lamposts etc. Anybody that has an objection then has the oppertunity to email, post or fax an objection to the planning department of the council. If permission has been granted then I assume that may be the end of it and building will begin.

kick up fuss, protest and get it on your local t.v. station, go round your neighbours and hopefully get them protesting too. At least it will get the politicans involved, they like any kind of publicity!

If you end up with nothing to do then at least ask the school to pay you some money for ruining your home.

Exactly the same thing happened opposite my house. All the neighbours objected, put in a petition, went to public and private meeting about the issue. Because the council were getting EU money for the project they bulldozed (literally) through regardless. Up until then there was a huge piece of green / open space for everyone to use. Now it is a pay only site. None of the politicians helped. Even the so-called Greens were in favour of taking the land from the community and giving to the local school.

Make a right song and dance about it, make your feelings known, try anything and everything. Then if all else fails at least you will know you will have put up a fight and lost, rather than done nothing.

In my experience though generally Joe Public looses.

Your'e right there suze, who cares about us voting, tax paying public? :x
