I've never played it. Is it a strategy game? Should I get it?

Shocking!!! Rinse your mouth out with soap, young duck! It's only the best RTS games series EVER!!!111oneone!

I'll join when I get my copy delivered. Hopefully as we will be playing against people we know (albeit from an internet forum) there will be less of the nastiness and cheating that you get normally.

lol sorry ducky i do agree!

Oh, OK... so it has to be played online?

Just to check (before bothering to see about ordering it) - I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1.5GB RAM, GeForce 5200 128MB Graphics, Windows XP - is my computer good enough for it?

It's both on and offline duck - 3 campaigns to do alone, then loads of skirmishes to fight online/ versus computers.

Matt that should run it but not with all of the eye candy - it maxes out at 30 frames a second anyway so if you can achieve that sort of quality in any recent FPS it'll be fine - could always download the demo to try it out?

That's likely to struggle with it - I'd download the demo and give it a shot first.

I like the feel of the game, they've done well in updating the original game which was pretty much the game that got me into RTS games. However this might lose the appeal for some people as it definitely feels a step back from recent RTS games, even the predecessor in the series Generals. I'm having trouble getting to grips with the Scrin which may be simply because I'm not familiar with them, they seem powerful especially their more higher up tech units which seem to take a heck of a beating before they will go down.

NO my bros got a 1.7 with a gig ram and it runs fine. Try it out

I'd be up for joining a clan. The only issue at the moment is that i've just got my own apartment and I haven't sorted out a net connection yet

I'm actually a little bit stuck on the GDI campaign. It's basically the level where you have to re-route your electricity to defend different sides of the base. There's no problem defending against the initial onslaught but I can't concentrate on moving my mobile base through the town and defend the base at the same time - It's either really difficult or I'm just not doing something right.

Can't help you there, I started the Nod campaign first. I couldn't help it lol.
Ive had to force myself to stop playing so I can finish my dissertation :-(

Just keep defending the base then, build up a force of tanks and APC to take out anything in the way of the MCV then bring it over.

Also a great hint for this level. 4 APC with riflemen in each, put 2 at each bridge to your south east. This will then stop any onsalught of NOD troops getting over and they will reach Veterenacy in no time also !

I'll join the HUKD clan once I have completed the solo missions.

How hard are the scrin ! They just keep coming wave after wave !! And their flying things are doing my head in as they are always out of reach of my AA guns

Tell me about it! their devastator warships are a pain as their weapons can shoot great distances and way out of GDI range. They also get shield technology in later missions which takes a lot of firepower! I find it best to get railgun upgrades for mammoth tanks and just keep your eye out....or better still purchase 2 airfields and get some firehawks and strap them with air to air missles and have them circle the battlefield.

I've just completed all GDI missions on normal....by god the game just kept going and going with some nice surprises in it. The Scrin are really spooky! also make sure you choose the right decision in your choice of super weapon use

I'll join the clan!
How do I do it?? What you need from me Ant?? :?

Still no internet connection... But I do have a query

I've run into a couple of memory issues whilst playing skirmish matches.
If the matches go on for too long (1hr+), with inevitably large numbers of units stockpiling, then the system will run out of RAM and crash out.

I have 1 gig of system RAM, with around 750 megs free before I start the game. There is also 256mb of dedicated video memory on my Ati X1600. I know the obvious solution is to buy more RAM, but it's not like my system is a slouch. Anyone else having the same problem?

I have - on a machine with 2 gig of RAM (ultra low latency stuff too). However that was about 10 hours into an eight way online match.. Literally thousands of units, sup com style.
Works 99.999% of time though so can't complain. Only had one crash and I got in on release day.

Is the clan still running? I can't join you right away but I do love this game now I'm playing it.
