Compensation for injured knee after car accident!

Found 7th Jul 2012
Quick description, Whilst lighting a cigarette (as a passenger) the driver of the vehicle I was travelling in got hit by another vehicle and my knee banged into the plastic dashboard. A few days after the accident my knee became sore and gradually got worse over the coming months. My doctor put me on naproxen, then ibuprofen to help with the pain. Neither worked and eventually I was sent for an xray and blood work- all came back clear. Anyway, months later i was sent to a knee specialist that has noted swelling in my knee as well as muscle deterioration in my thigh which he claims is a sign of knee problems. He also noticed a popping sound and tight tendons. I can only describe it as a toothache like pain which gets worse the more i do. Has anyone here had a similar incident and made a claim and how much was it worth?

No! I said the xray shows no damage to the bones and the blood tests show no signs of arthritis.

Yet it took you months to see a specialist? oO
My doctor wanted to try "alternative" and cheaper methods hence the prescribed drugs first
You have come in here asking how "much you can get", you expect people to be jumping for joy that you might get a few quid whilst pushing our premiums up further?

I need to get a grip? really?

In 15 years of driving I have never made a claim! Insurers giving insurance to druggies and them crashing is whats putting up your premiums.

So you work as a plumber, you are constantly on your knees? So your knee can't be as bad as you are making out or you wouldn't be able to continue working as a plumber.

You send alot of your time on your knees not because your a plumber but … You send alot of your time on your knees not because your a plumber but because your a wimpy girlie gay little fanny fart cock sucker I tell it like it is [/img]

See ya in a few days churchy (_;)
I hope that your knee gets better and that the doctors can help you get it fixed and pain-free. Good news there's no damage to the bones or arthritis. I suspect the doctor wasn't trying to cut corners but was trying the least intrusive methods first which work for some, not unreasonable. You were referred to the knee specialist within months so it seems like you were treated well and fairly promptly.
I don't think you'll get much help here tbh, not only is it the night crew but a weekend so you just opened yourself up to a thread bashing.
I would see if there is any info on mse, they have various forums and no doubt one of them will have the kind of information you are after in it.
It's an unsaid rule that you don't use the words compensation or benefits on here, let alone after 8pm.

I don't see why he will get suspended, obviously none of those words are on the banned list.

If he likes my gash I'm going to be so confused oO

I've seen it and it's not pretty
'He also noticed a popping sound and tight tendons' It sounds more like a muscle / tendon issue which your physio/ Dr will have given you exercises for? I presume you have been referred to a physio?
I have a similar sounding problem but I know mine has been caused by years or crawling around on all fours. I am now awaiting an MRI as I can no longer get my leg 100% straight. Never had an accident...just wear and tear I guess.

Thanks, finally a reasonable person has found their way onto this thread. I have physio starting next week and if that doesnt improve my knee they are talking camera to see inside the knee or surgery. Thanks for taking the time to reply

Oh come on, if someone is in pain I'll give them some sympathy, that's me, I'm nice like that.
I won't encourage the compensation culture as I think it's ruining this country but I'll give them a bit of TLC and advice, it's not hurting anyone.

lol, yet you still haven't answered my question about how you are still able to continue working on your knees as a plumber.

Surely thats a reasonable question?

Chances are it is mainly down to your job, and the accident acted as a catalyst. You probably won't get any compo for it, as your job will count against you on the claim.

Dan I like u
That is way more than enough people
Cut out the petty name calling and insults. I don't really want to start handing out suspensions as you all really know better
Ring fentons and they will help you get a nice compo claim for you injury the jsb guidelines don't state a price guideline for minor, so ramp it up to moderate (there tame physician will help with this) and get some for the insurance you've been paying back

Good luck

My points were just;
a) I hope that it gets better soon
b) good to hear there's no broken bones or arthritis
c) it sounds like the doctors treated the problem well
d) you will struggle to get help on here
e) you will probably get more help on mse
f) don't mention compensation or benefits on The Misk

I agree with you about compensation, unless it is a significantly life changing affliction. It sounds like the OP's problem could even be part or wholly caused by his job, being on his knees so much, but maybe the accident was the trigger, who knows.
I have had accidents, whiplash plus also had stitches and concussion due to shoddy workmanship which Sharps would have paid out for but I didn't want to claim, it doesn't seem right and I, personally, don't agree with it.

In reply to your points:

a) I don't
b) Dam gutted
c) NHS is so under rated - all hail the doctors
d) Dam right - we have morals.
e) **** off there then
f) Thats cos we are all hard working individuals who don't take kindly to country wreckers.

SS, you're being far too sensible. Maybe time for bed and leave the misc for the old guard tonight
this thread looked so annoying at first....now
