sounds like the rogue program has attached a "hidden" attribute to your files and the other machine is set not to show these, look on second machine for folder options and set to show hidden files.

ps its generally not a good idea to attach an external drive to a infected machine, just in case there are any viri that write themselves to disk present, without caution this can infect the other machine.

your are right some rogue program is doing this .I have some photo files which i have not saved i ext drive What can i do now how to make sure that i can open them in another computer as i need to reformatt this laptop

What's the error message you're getting when you try and open the files on a different computer?

Would be less effort to disinfect the computer than do a reformat, reinstall Windows and then reinstall and configure all the programs you use. Check out the tool john52 suggested and also get Malwarebytes. Download, install, update and run it.

Not allowing to to reinstall windows i have also run spy bot and malware bytes but no luck .I can see all files and folders in my infested lap top that iam only trying to save those files and then even get rid of this laptop

download.cnet.com/RKi…l;1

If you can download this on another PC then run in safe mode it will may help rescue your work and lappy.

Hope it helps

The best and safest way to to transfer your documents is to take the hard drive out of the laptop and link it to another PC or laptop . I use IDE to USB and another device that links sata drives to laptops or pc's . This enables you to scan the dirve for virus's ,but mainly transfer data from your profile to a folder on the doner pc .I do this all the time for customers and put their data on to DVD's for them .
The HDD's can also be added by cable to a doner motherboard in a working PC, there is adapters to link 2.5" drives to fit 3.5" connectors [mainly for IDE ] wont matter now as most drives will be SATA .
Once connected , windows will not be running on your virused drive ,so access to the files will be easy .After transfer you can format the drive ready to put back into your laptop to install windows .

What AV software let the virus through?

Can i use 2.5" Laptop SATA to USB Hard Drive HDD Enclosure Case to transfer my data and as iam able to open most of files on infected lap top except cant view any photos as picture manager doesnt recognise it do you think the files are corrupted

I dont think any files will be corrupted , but I dont think you'll be able to open any programs ie ,photo viewers etc if your booted in windows on a virused laptop or pc .In safe mode you might be OK .But I find it always best to open up the drive on another machine .ie the infected hdd is not running an OS .
Yes , try the infected drive in a 'caddy' or case , as long as you dont format the drive .
