Computer help ASAP please

Right my friend gave me her pc to sort as the USB ports arent reconised.

I read a BIOS update will cure it, so updated the BIOS as much as i can do via the website for the motherboard but still not working.
Im stumped what to do next and she needs it for tomorrow if possible, any ideas people what i can do, i tried going into BIOS to check if they were enabled but they dont even show up in the BIOS either when i checked a while ago.

Now since friend has had it i cant get into BIOS as i think her teenage son has been in and put a password on but of course is denying it so cant get into it now.

The motherboard is foxconn n15235
The other number is p4m800p7mb rs2h

Thanks if you can help me will owe you forever!

take the battery out for a while, it'll reset the bios password.

more likely you need to install the chipset drivers within Windows though

whats your OS? Vista?

Its windows XP - when i did the fresh install they all disappeared any sign of the USB ports, there is 2 at the front and 4 on the back.

do what bubba said........... remove the cmos battery, leave it for 15 secs then put it back in, then restart pc ......

for the usb problem, it might be windows not accepting them

try the bios update but also try a windows fix

right click on my computer,
choose properties
device manager
find the usb controllers
is there a warning on them ?
if so right lcick on the error and click repair

When i go into Device manager there is no usb ports listed at all, last when i looked in Bios they werent even listed in there either.

Maybe the drivers are missing?. Look on the website of the manufacture for the usb drivers.

i am downloading it now for you, add me to msn (addy

When I had this usb port problem it was actually easily sorted out, in effect they were disconnected in the settings, this is what I did, - I have solved it. I went into device manager and i had somehow disabled the usb port I was using when I had disconnected last time. Under the usb controllers heading one had a red cross through. A right click allowed me to enable and I was up and running again

to reset the bios u need to locate the jumpers.
switch them around and leave for 30secs, then swtich them back.

boot up and your bios password will be gone!
wooo!!

also for the USB, right click on my computer, click manage, goto the bottom, look under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, expand it and right click on any with a yellow waring sign, click update driver.
let windows find the drive automaticly.

also check to see if you have Service Pack 2 installed.
Right click my computer goto properties, wait a sec and it should appear at the top or bottom of the page.
if you dont have service pack 2, goto microsoft website and search for it.

just to let you know, we fixed this via msn......... removed the cmos battery and re inserted it, the bios upgraded and is now working

you're welcome then !
