Have you got OpenDNS installed ?

    opendns.com/abo…ew/

When does the error appear? randomly ?

What version of .net you using and with what OS?

    When does the error happen?

When you open a webpage, when you run a certain application?

Microsoft update .net framework alot, it could be you need to go to microsoft update and make sure all your .net components are installed.

It's unlikely to be a problem with .Net. .Net is a framework to help programs run and will have been tested intensively. The problem is far more likely to be with a program using .Net.

The error isn't very helpful, it just says that a .Net program has done something very silly but without the program or executable name the only clue is that it's a program involving an HTML document with OpenDNS as it's title.

Does OpenDNS have some sort of program you can download to set it up automatically? That might be what's causing the problem.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT de****** registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    good luck with that one.
    anything beyond ctrl+alt+delete I'm lost.

It may be worth trying the .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool here ]http//bl…spx to verify the installation state the .NET Framework on your computer

There is also a .NET cleanup tool on this on this site which can be used as a last resort if a standard uninstall, repair installation has failed to sort out the error ]http//bl…spx

Also it may be worth looking at this similar problem and solution here that may help you ]http//so…56c

    I hope it helps

thanks peter, i've tried the verification tool and it verified it ok

Not sure if i actually want to start uninstalling things at the moment as i make make the problem worse.

    repped

what exactly is the net framework anyway?

    Thanks for the feedback

There is .NET Framework explanation here ]http//ww…tml which explains why programmers use it so often.

Good luck with sorting it out

Basically it's the supporting framework for the latest version of Microsoft's programming languages. Programming languages are evolving over time to make programs easier and less work to write (which results in less bugs). It's presumably separate so you don't have to include it in each program and a lot of bugs in it can be fixed without every program using it having to issue a new version.

What it actually contains is libraries which are bits of programming that can be re-used by other programs. For example it might have a bit that fetches a web page so a program that wants to display it's help webpage only has to supply it with the address and display the result rather than having to negotiate with the web server and send all the HTTP codes and other tedious bits that amount to actually retrieving the webpage.
