    Computer help please!

In addition to my car problems I have a computer problem.

My g/f laptop is running really really hot, the fan seems to be constantly on and at full speed. Even sitting near the laptop you can feel the heat coming off it. The laptop is quite old now, maybe 2.5-3 years. Is there anything that be done to fix it or is it time for an upgrade?

it could be a blocked vent, i couldn't really find anywhere that was sucking in at the same rate that the fan was blowing out . To be honest the vents on the laptop seem tiny

just sucking the dust through the outlet vent? i'm not going to be anywhere near the laptop for a couple of weeks now, so i need advice that my girlfriend can follow, dont think she'd be confident taking the laptop apart.

You can get a laptop cooler pad, which is just a pad for the laptop to sit which has fans which air cools the bottom of the laptop, it plug into USB.
example on ebay item number 140227629229

Might be worth checking task manager to make sure nothing is ballsing out the cpu.

these dont work as the power needed to cool the laptop warms it even more

might just take the plunge and get a new one. does naybody know when the dell deals are updated?

Ditto on the Ctrl+_Alt + Delete

Then hit the "Processes" tab then click "CPU" and see if anything is eating up the CPU, if you've been hijacked by something and it's eating your CPU this will cause the fan to go into overdrive.

Just kill the process if there is, nothing should be running over 20% unless you're burning a CD, playing a game etc.

If you do have something eating loads of CPU just google the name and see what comes up highly likely some infection.
