Computer Problems and PS2 Swap Magic Problems...Anyone with knowledge?

Hey, just looking to see if anyone knows what these faults may be.

First of all, I have a computer that refuses to turn on..well it does, but doesn't fully boot up. It gets to that black screen with the writing..some of which states to start in safe mode, last known good configuration point..etc .. I have tried all the options, and it won't have it.. at first just froze on that screen..now doesn't appear to freeze yet acts like it is trying to load and can't. Problem with the hard drive? This was a sudden problem, no known errors or bugs...any ideas?

Just would like to know if its completely dead..or files are retrievable.

Also, swap magic on the ps2 doesn't seem to start up..I've googled, but as you can tell I am not remotely tech savvy.

    Long post....argh

no ideas about PS2, but the PC problem doesn't sound like a hard drive as it would generaly tell you the hard drive has failed or worse still is missing (ie so broken it cant even see it)

have you installed anything recently ?

erm, well I believe a few days before it went dodgy an adobe thing popped up..which I think was installed.
    Anything else..I couldn't say.

what do u mean swap magic doesnt load up?

the swap screen or your backup doesnt load?

backups have to be on DVD-R (not +R or RW)

some games like god of war wont work because their were originally on dual layer DVD's which 1) wont fit on normal DVD, 2) swap magic cant read dual layers.

and if your backup is on DVD, make sure your using the DVD version of swap magic because theres also a CD version.

i remember one of my backups only loaded with special boot (square button i think)

there are 3 pieces of plastic where the mod has been installed enabling the use of swap magic.

do you know where all the 3 pieces are located. they may have moved whilst been in storage

i got the swap screen to load with the lid shut....but its not meant to be shut, i didnt think.

..and it cant be the cd/dvd types... as I have played them before..just not for a long time. Which is why im confused as to why they are not working.

there is only one piece which i would class as dodgy.. however it was always that way. and if its slightly moved...well i don't know how to fix any of it.

the one that usually causes the probablem is C, the more parallel it is with ps2 i think the better it works, been a while since i did this.

Is it your pc thats gone doo lally... try turning it off and using a different ide cable connected to the hdd, also remove any memory cards that may be inserted
