If CPT goes up to anything near 40% I'll be selling my second home.

I will be very surprised if they do this though. Totally NOT a conservative feature!

I expect that, and to some extent, I don't mind paying my way for the sake of the country.

But raising CPT is an error. I've paid tax on buying the second home, I pay tax on renting it out, and now I have to pay more tax on any profit I make? Makes no sense.

Anything to get rid of the national dept, don't want to pay more tax etx but unless you want to end up like Greece we don't really have much choice.
Good old Labour they screwed us up last time round this time they put a cherry on top.

They seem to be able to bring any measure in at the moment and blame it all on the previous government and everyone believes it and goes along with it. What would have happened if Labour had stayed in, they wouldn't be admitting the country was in a mess and making all these changes would they?

they reckon it will cost the average family around £400 a year

like 2-3 Pence on a litre of fuel

The whole housing market is out of hand, too many people with two or more homes and too many greedy estate agents artificially putting the prices up so much over the last 13 years that most people on a normal wage can not afford to buy. There is no way I could afford to by my house now, 13yrs ago it was not a problem.

When the housing market crahses again, and it will, I will be sorry for the thousands who will be caught in negative.

The debt is a world wide crisis, Not just Labours fault, Blair stepped down when he knew we were facing a problem. Blame Blair, He used to be good but let the Country down and left Brown to take the wrap.

Now were left with a joint party, Who always opposed each other and will probably screw us up even more in the long run.

Cameron is not Mr Nice Guy, all play acting. Their still the Conservatives at the end of the day, They'll be privatising my poo next and taxing me to use a microwave.

It was greedy bankers that screwed us not the Labour government.

Now as we begin to pay the price they are already pumping up their salaries and bonuses to pretty much where they were.

    We all thank you.

I have no problem with austerity measures,if they are well targeted. Its a price we all have to pay for our unfortunate situation-however,osbourne better HAMMER the banks if he wants to persuade the public that THEY must play their part.

We are in for a huge round of strikes now anyway-every union in the country will claim that they are a "special case" and shouldnt have their pay frozen.

Increasing Capital Gains Tax, and increasing the threshold for Income Tax means that the rich will pay more tax, and the poor will pay less. Add that to the talk of reducing child benefit after 30k, taking more money off the richer, and your post makes no sense at all.

the guy adam boulton was just interviewing stated that the constant harping on about benefit cheats detracts from the fact that wealthy people using tax avoidance schemes are stealing 3 times more from the economy every year than people actually "cheating" benefits.

so in the interests of fairness,I expect osbourne to clamp down on ALL cheats, close all tax loopholes, remove "non dom" status-or will he play to the gallery?

Laughable isn't it - how those who claim benefits are scum whilst tax avoidance is being clever with your money. But this is one of the reasons why they are changing the rules on capital gains tax as this was one way of avoiding/reducing tax.

For those who say we have to do it - even the Tories new "independent" body forecasts that even if no cuts were made the deficit would halve in the next 4/5 years as the economy comes out of recession. I have nothing against cuts as long as they are done carefully and everyone in our society (including the better off) are targetted....

As for the ConDems does anyone really believe the Dems have any influence? I just think of the gov as Conservative not Con Dem
