conservatory roof

With the patio doors open to the lounge it makes a right noise when it rains on our conservatory.
If I wanted to remove the patio doors, other than a slate roof. How can I reduce the noise?

Thanks all

earplugs

the weight of any other roof will need massive rebuilding

Turn the music/tv up.

Other than that as jubbyme says other roofs would require more support.

Oh NO NO NO. I love the noise. I sit out there in the dark listening to the rain. I am so sad.

That's just not the same. The rain on the roof is, well... better. Indescribably better. And after one or two run throughs, the CD would become predictable :whistling:

trouble is, I want to listen to the football and it doesnt half get loud when its bucketing down
thanks for all your suggestions though. I figured there may be rebuilding involved

'listen to the football'???? Surely it's all just crowd noise anyway? Unless you mean radio...

assuming the roof is polycarb (plastic) you can replace the polycarb roof sheets with glass ones which will reduce the noice quite a bit but you will proberly be looking at £1000 at a guess. not worth it.

I loved the sound of the rain when I had my hot tub in it but its no good if your trying to listen to the tv in there.

gotta have sound up on the TV when watchin football!!

My parents' conservatory had a loud roof (in heavy rain you couldn't really sit in there) but it was recently replaced and you can hardly hear the rain now, it is still some form of plastic.

Old polycarbonate roof sheets had 3-5 'skins' and were mostly 16mm thick, newer ones are 32mm thick and have 6-10 skins so there a lot quieter.
You wouldnt be able to just change the sheets as the old profile wouldnt hold the new depth sheets in it so it would mean a full new roof.

I reckon I'd rather listen to the rain and spend a grand on a good holiday or something
