Looking on getting some contact lenses: slightly confused I was reading up on

1. States contact lenses, come in 3 lenses per box so do I get 3 lenses or 3 pairs? Looking at monthly contacts

2. Where would you recommend getting contact lenses at the best price?

3. Is aftercare expensive? In terms of solution....

It won't be pairs as often people have different prescriptions on each eye. I started off with forthrightly lenses but didn't really like reusing them and having to do the solution. I have dailies and pay about £20 a month through spec savers. They r brilliant. It includes all aftercare and checks and you can get a free pair of glasses every two years. Definitely recommend. They do a free trial for anyone considering going onto lenses.

Go to an optician for your first batch. You can get them online for about £20 if you plan on daily use disposables but an optician will charge about £5-10 more to make a profit, though they'll also show you how to put them in and out safely. I recently went back to contacts after 5 years of not wearing them and nearly destroyed my eye trying to get one out! Luckily I got help from my optician and now I go to him to get them.

I buy a months worth (ie 60 lenses total) from him and wear them maybe two or three times a week so £25 isn't a big deal since I get about 2 or 3 months out of it. Maybe you could go to the optician for the first month then go online once you're happy. I get these from the optician for £27 and visiondirect sell them for £12 for 30 (£24 for 60) and they're really nice on my eyes. visiondirect.co.uk/foc…ort

spec savers do a free trial. the bad thing is they will need you to keep going in every couple of weeks for an eye check. it's to much of an inconvenience for me.

I use day soft lenses , been ordering from them for a while now with no issues , I get my daily disposables for about £13 a month

It would help if you provided a link, people on here are good but they are not psychic.

From reading the posts it seems that it is ultimately down to personal choice as well as cost.

No solution needed with dailies just throw them away, I can recommend Daysoft lenses, my daughter has used them for years.

But you need solution with monthly contacts?

Monthly lenses are worn every day for the month for around 12 hours. At the end of each day you take them out and clean them with multi purpose lens cleaning solution and store them overnight. Then you put them in again the next day. Repeat for 30 days then dispose of them and start a new pair. Daily lenses are safer in terms of infection risk as you use a new pair every day and don't go through the cleaning process which increases the potential contamination risk.

As far as daily lenses go I wouldn't recommend Daysoft lenses...they get recommended because they're cheap but quality wise they're not great, and given you have one pair of eyes for your entire life It's far better to spend a little more and get a better brand (and perhaps wear them less to make up for the cost.)

Have you considered hard gas permeable lenses. Better for your eyes and alot cheaper

monthly lenses: will come in a box of 3 for each eye, so 3 months supply for left eye in one box, and 3 months supply for right eye in one box.
Def recommend going to optician to get lenses (as someone has already stated, specsavers will do a free trial, so no costs upfront)

Go have a chat with at any opticians, the staff will all understand and be able to explain contacts. You would need to see an optician for a contact lens assessment, and he /she will tell you if your eyes are suitable to use contacts, will also recommend which ones they think are suitable for you, could be either dailies or monthlies in most cases, as sizes and fit of lenses are all different, and most opticians will give you trial lenses , and ask you to return for aftercare to check fit is ok.They also teach how to get them in and out safely.
