    stick em in the oven

Roast beef with roast potatoes, yorkshire puds with boiled carrots with butter melted over them gets my vote. Just make sure you quadruple the quanities and cook all the flavour out of it to account for American tastes.

Does anyone know any recipes that do not need a deep fat fryer?

I voted for sausage egg chips and beans, do the chips- cut them up, part boil them then cover in a drizzle of oil and some salt and oven cook them

roast beef and yorkshire pudding got to do the yorkie puds maericans love them, have a few friends online ( in america) with english mother in laws etc and they saw best bit going to inlaws is for sunday lunch

You can fry with breadcrumbs. Google the fish you want and you should find a recipe somewhere...
    'Breadcrumb cod'.

I dont own a deep fat fryer, i grill or oven cook everything.

Clean, wash and dry the fish.

Crush salt and the coriander seed together in a bowl.

Roll the fish in this mixture.

Place the fish in an ovenproof frying pan, seal by frying quickly on both sides, then cover with a lid.

Put the pan in the oven and bake at gas mark 4, 350°f (180°c) until the fish is cooked through.

This stops the fish from drying out, white fish always dries out and cod is my favourite!

oven roasted chips are yummy as well, Maris Piper and King Edward are the best potatoes for them.

Peel the potatoes and cut them into long chip shapes
Rinse under the cold tap and pat dry with a tea towel
Spread the chips on a baking tray and toss with oil and salt
Roast for 45 mins, turning now and then

    Just add ketchup

 i have been called some things in life but ... :viking:

id go with shepards pie. easy peasy, and all the food you need in one dish, meat, potatoes and veg all in one dish.

lets see minced lamb or beef or pork or turkey even all make great shepards pie (though lamb traditional as indicated by the name he he), potatoes, veg like carrots and peas, and bit of gravy or tinned chopped tomatoes, whichever u prefer. so simple, so british and if u do them in individual dishes, pretty posh with a big slab of bread. in fact that what we have for tea tonight.

or a simple hot pot basically caserole with sliced potatoes on top, my other half loves it, save it for special treat purely cos it makes him appreciate me more ha ha

I love this, not made it for ages. I prefer mine with beef, i find lamb quite fatty, same when making a stew
