CORE 2 DUO OR DUAL CORE?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can clarify a few things for me, this is my first post, so I hope it's going in the right place, if not can someone please correct it.

I am looking to buy a new laptop for home, it's on everyday, I surf, download a few songs and do a bit of photoshop, now there is two computers that i'm looking at:
    1: HP 6720s Core 2 Duo - ebuyer.com/pro…219
    2: Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 - ebuyer.com/pro…414

Now what is better, core 2 duo or dual core? can someone advise on a better machine under the £400 mark.

    Thanks for any advice

both processors have two cores in them, but core 2 duo is a newer architecture and is far superior to the older dual core type

Yup, the old Dual Core are also more power hungry than the Core2Duo CPUs, it's a very important point if you're looking at a laptop as they will eat up your battery life! Of course, if you're not going to be using it on battery only (i.e. you have the adaptor plugged in) then it's not so much of a worry.
