As of Boxing Day the following areas will go into Tier 4:

What are the rules for Tier 4?

A stay at home order is being issued to residents - although those who have to travel for education or work may continue to do so.

Social mixing will be restricted to meeting one other person from outside your household in an open public space.

All non-essential retail will have to close, along with hairdressers, nail bars and indoor entertainment venues.

Support bubbles remain unaffected, as do the exemptions for separated parents and their children.

No-one in tier four will be allowed to join Christmas Day bubbles in tiers one to three.

So what does this mean for Christmas and Nwe Year?

It was previously announced that there would be 5 days between the 23rd - 27th where you could visit one other household and form a bubble over the Christmas holiday this has now been revised to just Christmas Day for most of England and anywhere with tier 4 restrictions will have the entire grace period scrapped.

People in tier 1 - 3 areas who plan to travel must stay local, preferably in their own tier where possible.

Those in Tier 4 restrictions cannot mix households indoors or outdoors, not even on Christmas Day, this excludes support bubbles.

Those in Tier 4 restrictions will have their rules reviewed on the 30th December 2020.

Wales will go into a full lockdown, so like England they will reduce the relaxation of rules from 5 days to just Christmas Day. Travel from other parts of the UK will not be permitted.

Same as England and Wales, just Christmas Day instead of the 5 days. Also travel from other parts of the UK will not be allowed.
