    Corsa Problem - Got Some Fault Codes Now

    I'm a newbie with cars and have a problem with my car, loss of power basically, sometimes when not driven for a day or two, it wont go past 15MPH in 2nd, only way to correct this is foot down in 1st till about 5000 revs, then change gear but the problem comes again.

    I've read around on the net and have decided I'd take a shot at removing my Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor but require a Torx tool set from somewhere, would prefer to get out and get it right now if possible, can anyone point me in the right direction?

    my brother had a corsa and it was the most reliable car that he has had

    machine mart sell a set or halfords would be your best bet

    Will have to try Halfords tomorrow if no luck today.

    Any supermarkets likely to stock them?

    Definately the MAF, replacements are around £50 for a genuine one on ebay. Only buy genuine.

    Got some fault codes out my vehicle, rather than taking it to a garage and possibly finding out the same info from their computer.

    Here's what I got:
    P0170
    Vauxhall Forum states: Rich/Lean Exhaust C-30
    / Fuel Temperature Sensor A Cicuit Malfunction

    P0180
    Fuel Trim Malfunction

    I don't know much about cars but just wondering do these relate to the Lambda sensor? Many people who have had the problem like mine got it checked on a garages computer and say it came up with a Lambda sensor problem who have got it replaced but didn't fix the problem.

    hi i would suggest the lamba sensor if you have been using more fuel than normal then it could be the cat itself you can get cats and lamba sensor delivered to you online at cats 4 less i have used these numerous times with no problems also if you have a manual look at where the sensors are and what they are to see if that sheds any light on your dilemma

    i'd put a big chunk of money on it being the MAF - you don't need a torx bit to remove as you remove the whole plastic tube bit from the rubber pipes. Do not waste time and money getting a fake cheapie from ebay - only a gen vaux/bosch one (ask me how i know this!)

    As has been pointed out, a faulty MAF will throw out a lambda (CO2) sensor error, due to the fuelling to the engine not being correct because the MAF isn't measuring the air flow properly. Once the MAF is fixed, the lambda sensor won't throw up any errors.

    Is the engine management light coming on?

    Engine management light has been on constantly, never fades away.

    I've come to the conclusion that it must be the MAF too, now it's just about getting a new one asap, how much is it likely to cost to get the part and have it fixed approx?

    What are the possible effects of leaving the faulty MAF (if faulty) for a week or two? Does it have an effect on amount of fuel used to keep me on the move?

    probably looking at about 150 fitted but it's an easy diy job :-D

    MAF shouldn't do too much harm but it will make it a swine to drive!

    I'd be happy to try and do it myself but don't know whats required to remove or clean the MAF.

    2 clips and one electrical connector and jobs a good 'un :-D
