cost of having a home security system fitted

Does anyone have any ideas of how much a burglar alarm system costs to have installed? Ours isn't working...its rather old....and I just wanted a rough idea of the cost to replace it before I get anyone out!
    Thanks.

    I'd say 459 quid.

Random number and nothing to do with alarms or security, but hopefully this will be of greater help to you than google may have been.

Call me paranoid, but a home security system is one of those things I'd be inclined to fit myself. Seems a tad insecure to outsource these things.

We had ours fitted about two years ago by a large reputable installer nearby.

For a four bedroomed house, it cost about £900 all in, that was for movement sensors in all the rooms downstairs and upstairs hallway (two). Sensor on the front door but no other outside wall sensors. Understairs control box and a small digital control panel on the hallway wall. One outside wired-in bellbox and one fake one at the back.

We reckoned we could have bought the equipment and done it ourselves for aboit a third of that but just didn't feel confident enough to do it, and we preferred the idea of having someone to call on should it ever go wrong (which it hasn't).

We don't pay for a yearly maintenance which was about £50 quid? maybe £80?.

    Hope that helps!

    That's a great help thank-you!

You should be able to have the individual faulty part replaced at a very respectable price. What part is faulty?

A decent one about £600 but a on-call one (One which contacts the police if it triggers) about 1k + yearly sub.

Not sure..it won't set..them randomly goes off without being programmed, so you can't switch it off! Driving me nuts!

Sounds like an anti tamper switch activating. Can you disable individual sensors or zones?
