does anyone have any rough idea how much it would cost to insure a gtr with a 17 year old lad as the main driver.

It would be a 2009 model

Use gocompare or comparethemarket. Insurance is based on area etc too.
not cheap. .... !! ;-)
why not just get a quote? I would imagine it to be pretty pricey though. Might need specialist insurance.

You can get a quote without having to own the vehicle.

Over 9,000.

X) I was quoted £9k for a Impreza WRX when I was 18, had to wait until I was 24 before I could afford to insure one, and even then it stung.
Luckiest 17 year old ever?
If you can afford a second hand 40k GTR at 17 then the 20k/30k insurance will be affordable too whether it be mummy or daddy paying.

I'm not going to pay that much! I was thinking if it was around 10k then it would be affordable

Why would you pay 10k a year for a car thats only worth 40k?

You could get better performance for the money on something like a Evo X or a M3/M5?

Fixed that for you

Until 3 weeks later when he's being cut out of it. I would definitely start off with a hot hatch, Saxo VTR was my first car. If I had the money for the Subaru, my inexperience + testosterone would have probably killed me or someone else.

the veyron is the only real contender when it comes to acceleration, it gets to 60 in 2.8seconds
Considering you went from a £600 road bike the other week - http://www.hotukdeals.com/tag/ask/which-road-bike-1526472

To a supposed budget of £50,000, I'm sure you will be able to afford it one day.

Or, get better at your Maths Stats - http://www.hotukdeals.com/tag/ask/maths-stats-help-pleeeeeeeasee-1544393

And you might be able to afford it sooner.

No, he/she is just lying. If a 17 year old was able to afford a car like this then they could also afford the insurance premium so wouldn't need to ask on a random shopping forum about how much insurance would cost.

I'd share it with my dad, he'd pay for it.

He's not going to pay 40k/year though
If you need to ask how much it is, you can't afford it.

The average 17 year old boy still has bum fluff, an attitude, acne, has his mum wash and iron his pants and probably hasn't gone all the way with a girl yet. There is no way they should be should be in charge of a super car.

Just saying.

Your dad needs some parenting lessons. He wants to put his inexperienced 17 year old son in a 500+ BHP supercar? Does he not like you? Because it's either going to cost him a lot of cash or your life.

I'm not sure what's worse, a spotty youth driving around in a top of the range car that is clearly owned by his dad, or his dad who could be in his forties who is going to look like a sad old git having a mid life crisis.:p

These cars should only be owned and driven by 25 - 35 year guys who look the part. Not father and son.

Well for starters, don't ask your dad for his opinion or help because he clearly needs some life lessons.

Perhaps a car with under a 1.6L engine with insurance around the £2000 area. Seems fitting for 17 years old.

Ford Fiesta / Vauxhall Corsa / Renault Clio etc. Similar Hatchbacks at the lower end of engine size that you won't be able to kill yourself within the week of getting it.
