could you believe paypal, I got scammed by a buyer!!!!!!

a item i recently sold which the seller recieved has been disputed. its just too easy for them! he made a dispute paypal held the funds. then after 2 days he wins the case!!! i provided tracking info and the buyer didnt even contact me. im now £14 out of pocket which isnt that bad could of been worse.
i thought this was a stupid case and he buyer had no chance as it clearly says its delivered you lot can see for yourself. tracking number: DL857776535GB
my balance is now -£6.89. what should i do regarding that? leave it negative or will they send the bailifs for £6 lol.
ive been a account holder since 2006 and this person who probably made his account last week wins a case over me?

omg thats really bad have you tried phoneing paypal ???
i thought you were protected when sending via trackable method

his address isnt confirmed. well that would mean anyone can make a account with a unconfirmed address and dispute everything they buy and automatically win. they asked me for a tracking number and i provided it. the thing which ennoys me is that the buyer did not contact me and even in the dispute there was no resolution he just esculated it from the begining.

    there sorted.

yep i have had the same happen to me recently - had to pay the negative funds before i could use the paypal account aswell - it seems paypal is great for buyers but not so good when it comes to protecting sellers - thankfully mine was also for only a few quid but thats not the point, my buyer put in their dispute that i hadn't responded etc but i had and also thay had their blooming item!!!! its so annoying when you really have to put paypal on your listiing now - what a rip off!

there are many anti paypal sites and justifed by the recent spate of unusual claims it seems.

    paypal.com/uk/…ide

why not contact the FSA if paypal dont reverse it ?

nothing has changed although ebay now only accepts paypal (its subsidiary) for most payments - a well organised scam it seems.

yh i know. the good thing is i withdrew most of the money from the account and only had 8 or so pound left so when they tried to take £14 they had to pay some from there money. i aint paying the -£6.89. ill close the account if i have to and just open another one.
what are they going to do? send the bailifs for £6?

i cant beilieve no ones doing anything about it. has no one taken paypal to court or something. i remember when the musthave100 thing happened which i lost £100 with them and that was when i was a buyer. it was mentioned on watchdog for like 5 mins but they didnt say anything about paypal.

I have had this happen to me, but with a twist! I sold a boxed set of DVDs and three weeks later the buyer claimed they were all scratched. Paypal told him to return them to me, and I found then all scratched as though he had taken a nail file to them. Quess what Paypal did next! Yes, he got his money back and I was left £36.00 out of pocket.
I think that he only wanted to watch the DVDs rather than buy them.

he probably copied them and sent them back. sorry to hear about that.

It's a shame, you shouldn't send to unconfirmed addresses though.

remove your bank account from paypal or they will just take the funds, and if you dont have enough and the bank DOES pay then you'll owe bank charges also
I lost several hundred £'s to paypal twice 2 years ago when selling mobiles to the US., they get them then say they were broke or not working yet brand new in the box, paypal "investigates" then refunds all their money it's a massive rip off and ebay should be closed down (if any other one would take over) or made to take other payments

can you not copmplain to ofcom??? or trading standards
    am sorry this has happned

I got a debt collectors letter over £12.

It's disgusting that for the majority of listings accepting Paypal is now COMPULSORY, yet any buyer can use it with an "unconfirmed" address!!

I got scammed by an Italian buyer who claimed he didn't get the mobile I sent. I got some of my money back from the post office as I had proof of postage. The most galling thing is that I sent Paypal a scan of my proof of postage yet they refunded the Italian scammer the cost of the mobile PLUS postage!! They could see I had paid to post it but he got that back too!!

    Ridiculous.

Also buried deep in the t&c's there is apparently one that says due to the fact Paypal use call centres all over the world dealing with huge amounts of low value money tranfers a certain amount of employee fraud is to be expected and is acceptable!!

Why would they complain to ofcom? Paypal isn't a communications company!

OP you need to appeal to paypal, give them a call and they will tell you how.

When did the buyer win the item and when did they start the claim? When did you supply the tracking number?

i thought paypal as changed now that allows sellers to send to unconfirmed or comfirmed addresses and still be covered, or hasnt that come into effect yet?? there was an enrollment programme or something

I hadn't heard that, but would be interested to hear more.

Google need to open their own version of ebay/paypal so we can all leave those cursed sites xD

makes no difference if it's a confirmed or unconfirmed address
    paypal refunds all
the ones I lost were sent to confirmed addresses

It might be that when they checked it was showing as undelivered, as it was only delivered on the 15th and it can take until quite late in the dy to show on the tracking. Definately appeal

Some buyer is trying to scam me, from bradford :whistling:

Anyway, I phoned royal mail and they are sending him a letter stating the item has been delivered with the POD, how stupid can buyers get.

i tried but ebay don't allow live body parts the nhs will sue them otherwise

btw alicom you have about 10% of paypal reversing ......... you sent to an unconfirmed address..... you lose your protection from ebay ,,,,,,,

grab the sellers details from ebay (in help center somewhere) and ring the buyer, maybe a misunderstanding ...... he may (if he feels good enough) may send you the money again but maybe was a scam all along ........people dont confirm their address so ebay and paypal cant track them & they win items cos sellers dont check

last few days been a lot of ebay scams mentioned here ........ im gonna write a tutorial on how to stay safe from ebay & paypal ....... may help some .........

Quite impossible to check though, until they pay for the item, which you then have to refund payment and seek second chance offer only to be hit with another unconfirmed address

eBay lately is a gamble for sellers
