    Credit where credit is due!

On Thursday I was shopping in ADSA and was embarrassed to find that that my debit card was rejected. When I went to the ATM I found that I was £50.00 over drawn. I knew this was wrong so contacted Santander. The following is almost to funny to be true.

Here is how my account looked on screen:

Cheque presented (my monthly payment to Tesco Credit Card.
    Cheque payment withdrawn (same cheque).
    Cheque presented (same cheque).
    Cheque withdrawn (yes, same cheque).

They had paid Tesco twice with the same cheque, making me overdrawn!

They then said that the matter needed to be investigated so stopped the cheque and said that the money would go back into my account in 5 days time.

Tesco needed to be paid or else I’d incur interest charges, so I paid cash into my account to cover a direct payment to Tesco. I gave the cashier my Tesco Statement and she sent a direct payment through to them. After I received the receipt I noticed that she had made an error with the number on my Tesco account, but the payment could not be stopped, and it would not return to my account for 5 days.

They agreed to pay any interest incurred on my Tesco Credit Card because of all these mistakes on their part.

I noticed yesterday after I bought something online that I was overdrawn again. I phoned Santander and they told me that I also had to pay the £50 for being overdrawn. After explaining all this again they said that as a gesture of good faith and because I had been with them for over twenty years, they were withdrawing the charges.

That’s nice of them isn’t it!

I was then told that a cheque I paid into my account three weeks ago had not been applied yet. This was from my Halifax account. Santander had taken the money four days after I submitted it, yet never bothered to put it into my account.

Tesco tell me they received the original payment from Santander. As soon as this has settled down that account is being closed.

Now I am so confused that I haven’t a clue how much I have in my account and am too scared to use it in case I go into the red again.

It wasn't on this occasion. The bank was the cause of the trouble and have admitted it. It is under investigation. I'm told that I should hear from them next week, though I doubt that I will because all the obvious errors have been removed from my online statement.

Another Santander are **** posting shocker! Amazes me people are still suprised with this lot!

I'm sure that helpful advice will aid the OP in the quest for resolution with this particular issue.

The moral of the story - don't bank with Santander?

Where does the title of this thread tie in with the story?

An attempt at humour.... somewhere... I think.... not sure though

Should have been called "generic moaning at bank thread because I dont leave enough money in my account incase of emergencies so I'm going to blame everyone else and despite the fact I can switch bank whenever I want and no-one is forcing me to have a bank account I'm going to stay with them because I like to moan".
