    Cruise Telephone charges/cost

looking knowledge from the forum regarding telephone calls onboard a cruise ship.

basically my wife, sister & mother-in-law are going on a cruise & leaving me at home :-)
but obviously we want to keep in contact with each other. Does anyone know what cruise ship telephone charges are like?

I have ordered one of these SIM cards hotukdeals.com/ite…-th

Choosing the "Call and text the world from the UK" will this work?

    thanks in advance

An absolute fortune. You use the ships data head and the cost is about £4 min. better of getting a wifi connection from ship and emailing

I've seen as much as £5 a minute. Cruise ships have their own cell so can change what they like.

Don't expect the internet charge to be much less than 50p per minute and painfully slow into the bargain.

do what i did when i went on a cruise, only phone when you are in port, check what network you are on and if you are on the local network in whichever country you are in then it will be cheaper.

whatever happens dont use the phone in the room, ours was charging us 5 euros connection charge plus 5 euros a minute and 80 cents for sending a text.

text messages were free for me as im on an o2 contract but make sure that the you dont phone when sailing as that is very expensive

Call the ship from the U.K. What we have done successfully is to find the ships contact number, in our case it was a Norwegian number, and then get a prefix code online from some like phonecheap. You then dial the prefix, listen to instruction, then dial the ship, ask for the cabin number you want, if no answer you can usually leave a message. You will be charged, in our case only 1p per minute via your BT bill. Just call the ship at a pre-arranged time, maybe before dinner, remebering any time differences.
