Hi, sorry to hear you've been made redundant ... here's a site that gives you some info on the cscs card cscs.uk.com/

You should maybe try getting in touch with your local jobs and benefits office as they may be able to suggest / help with courses that would help with your intended career change,or try your local college.

    Hope you get sorted

CSCS card is for the construction industry, are you sure you need one to paint and decorate?

if you do want one, you certainly don't need any qualifications, its just a test and valid for 2 years, but theres loads of different types, you should only need a "contactors card" (white one if I remember correctly)

Its like a driving test, you get tested on x amount of multiple choice questions relating to the construction industry, its common sense rather than an actual test, but again like a driving test, you can buy a book with all the questions in to memorise them.

One of my questions related to asking what gloves you should wear in a live electrical environment.... believe it or not the answer was not D: chainmail. and that got me a card that I can now walk onto a construction site as a manager! scary!

There is no way you could walk onto a construction site just like that all cscs cards are graded i.e. each card has a different colour for each trade so for management purposes it would be a black card no wonder there are so many accidents on site if they are letting anybody just to come on sites with any old cards just check the site out when applying for a cscs card. the rules are all there.

I have the management card.... hence me being able to walk on as a manager, as the designer to mechanical aspects should I see something wrong with my design I need to be able to facilitate a change there and then, including taking supervision of a fabrication team to alter the design.
